Why Doesn't Gamestop.com sell prepaid time cards?

Is there a licensing issue here? I've seen the small cardboard cards inside Gamestop stores and BestBuy. BestBuy also has the carboard cards on their website and Amazon sells the cards in a DVD case on their website. However, Gamestop.com does not list the prepaid cards.

I ask because my state doesn't have online sales tax so it costs more to buy the cards in a retailer. I want to buy on Gamestop.com because I'm a few hundred reward points away from having enough for a $10 off any item coupon haha

I allways prefer Amazon. One of my timecards was unreadable, okay .. my fault with scratching off, but I got a new one. I said Amazon, my fault .... I got a new one !

Best price ..... is not everytime the best price ! ;)

Go to g2a.com and use paypal. I bought my cousin 2 months for $28. Great way to unsubscribe and keep playing.

@SFBryan18‌ Even when you use prepaid cards you still have to keep a credit card on file and your sub auto charges to your credit card when your prepaid time runs out

It shouldn't. If it does, it's in error.

No. You unsubscribe, then add time codes. I unsubscribed my cousins account when he had 1 day left and added a time code. He hasn't had any issue. They only require a subscription to start playing, not to continue.

I remember you had to put a card on file before you could activate your game and put in a prepaid. I haven't tried unsubscribing since I didn't realize it lets you stop having a card on file if you unsubscribe. I thought you always had to have a card on file if your game was active.

Gamestop craps on PC gamers nowdays. Their stocks dont have anything except the sims and those crappy puzzle/simulator games anymore, they're all about consoles now. Every time I ask why their selection went from decent to absolute shite, the response is "because steam".

Used to be my favorite gamestore, now I never go to gamestop anymore.

That's why I used paypal, but yea. You can unsub and add time codes. Of course they will have a record of your last payment method, but it will not auto bill you.

Who goes to Gamestop anymore? The only reason to go to Gamestop last year was to get the XB1 or PS4 when consoles were hard to get. Now you can get the consoles from Costco or Sam's Club. I like having Gamestop around as a backup but there isn't much incentive to go there first anymore.

Especially when you can order almost anything from walmart, amazon, newegg, or other online stores with great discounts.

Just not something they have an interest in carrying. At least that is why my friend who works at the local Gamestop here says. Why clutter their inventory with game cards when its games that are the largest seller since most people (not all but most) just use a credit card to pay and skip the whole game time card thing.

The whole game time card concept was dreampt up for people (kids) without credit cards (or unwilling to use them). Some kids get an allowance but arent of age to get a CC, the whole system caters to them.

@Aggelos The Gamestop near me has plenty in the store. I was pointing out that it's weird they don't sell them online.

@Surragard Oh I'm sorry I didn't understand the question  I guess its a store by store policy when they do their inventory I assume hence why mine doesn't carry any.

Game cards are also a good way to gift game time to another player. Or used as payment for trading in-game gold between friends.

I'm 46, don't have a "real" credit card, and don't want one - credit is a horrible trap, and I don't agree with society making it seem normal or necessary to carry a huge debt load your entire life. Any "kid" who jumps at a credit card dangled in front of his nose is asking for disaster down the road.

First lawyers, then economists, then the credit people, then car insurance jerks - the path to a better world! :)

My bank now issues those "Visa Debit" thingies to anyone with an account, because it's also your regular debit card. Fortunately, it just happens to work the same as a credit card as far as online purchases go, but I need the money in the bank, as if I wrote a cheque. And you only need to be 16, I think, to open and control your own account without mom and dad's permission/supervision; taxation starts at 16, you don't have to be in school past your 16th birthday, and you can have a full time job and your own place and live independently, quite legally and out of Children's Aid's purview; the only thing you can't do without your parent's permission is get married, join the army, and sign contracts (though it IS possible for you to do ALL those things if you and your parent agree.) I think the lowest drinking age in the country is 18, though, same with the smoking age.

The USA treats everyone up to age 21 like a baby.

You do realize that G2A sells stolen game keys and uses keys from other regions of the world because they can be bought cheap and sold at a slightly higher price for a profit, right?(that hurts the developers profits. Oh, and sorry for the run-on sentence)

Please, if your going to buy in-game time just get it from bestbuy or somewhere that is a legitimate retailer.

EDIT: Just look at how Rebellion revoked the sniper elite 3 keys sold by g2a. They were all stolen.

    Logic?
If you're buying a game card online, that requires an online payment why not just buy the time from TESO website?

It's the same payment method and a lot cheaper. One month vs two.
I don't follow this logic of buying a card online vs buying time with the same payment methods

Read the earlier posts and it's already explained. I'm not using a game time card to avoid an online payment. I have a good amount of Gamestop points built up through that reward program and I'm a few shy of having enough for a $10 off any purchase coupon. I was going to buy a time card there to get me over the hill on points and then use the coupon for another time card. After that I'll just switch back to a normal sub. However, when I started looking into the cards I realized that Gamestop.com doesn't sell the time cards, even though some of their local brick and mortar stores do. I thought that was a bit strange, hence the post. I was hoping someone else might have some insight.

Read our comments. Go into the store. Use your power up membership and buy the game time card. I do the same thing.

I don't understand why you would not go into the store as ordering gametime online vs buying gametime online is not logical.

The points do not out weight the logic of not going into the store. If there's not a store within 30 miles of you, the power up benefits have no logic cause you're not driving to trade anything.

    Make sense?

I again do not think you're applying logic or perhaps you are too young and do not understand how retail sales and internet sales work in the USA. I'm not trying to talk down to you or be rude.

I will provide some information as I have run a internet sales company for a few years and before then I was a game store manager for 5 - 6 stores 10 years ago.

Did you mean April? It's not August yet and the game came out April 4. The Gamestop near me didn't get the cards in for a few months. I asked an associate about it and he said they actually had the cards for launch but had to keep them off the shelves because there was something wrong with the codes and they had to wait for new batches to come in before they could put them on the shelves.
