What it the command pet key for?

Hi

I just noticed that there is a Command Pet key, I think it's Y but I'm not sure.
I'm 76 and my short term memory is not what it used to be.

The thing is that I can't figure out what it is supposed to do?

I have tried it a number of times but as far as I can see nothing happens.

What I would really like to see is a separate key to call your pet so I don't have to use one of my action buttons to do it, I suppose that's the price of having a pet but it would be nice.

I can't complain about the lack of effectiveness of Sorcerers in this game. LOL

Anyway, does anyone know what the key is supposed to do?

It's supposed to allow you to command the pet to target a specific mob. I haven't tried it yet though.

Y + Left click sends your pet to attack that target.

Y + Right click recalls your pet.

At least that is how it is supposed to work. Personally, it is extremely buggy for me and my pet ends up useless shortly after giving it any commands. I have heard it works for others though, so no idea why it is not working well for me.

    Hi

    I gave it a try.

It worked sometimes, but for the most part giving the attack command made my pet freeze in place and not move.

I haven't figured out for sure if the recall works all the time or not yet.

Yep. Those are the same issues I'm having. No idea why multiple people I have talked to said it works fine.

I've never had an issue with it. Hold Y and then press attack on an enemy and your summoned creature will attack. Hold Y and press block to cancel.

It works brilliantly for me. I hold Y and Left Click... the pet goes and attacks. My ensuing attack then has a much lower chance of pulling aggro since the pet already has it.

Keep in mind... this mechanic is for the Sorcerer's summoned pets. It has zero effect with Vanity pets (ie... monkey, scuttler/mudcrab, etc..).

Crap, I was hoping I could use Mr. Snippers to my advantage. Instead he'll continue to sit silently by, judging me,

I've known about it for quite a while. Never used it.

I always forget and I'm used to having Nofear attack the first thing I hit.

This hasn't worked well for me either, but then I do tend to mash the keyboard with my fists, panic and run into walls, so the extra buttons may just be too much for me. Having said that, other players have mentioned their pets freezing and sitting around playing cards or something after having used the attack command. My Clannfear and Twilight tend to stand around making rude gestures behind my back and laughing at me, ocassionally jumping into the fray and dying, leaving me to face waves of elite mobs alone. I would like to say it's bugged, but I think I'm just a bit crap...

Works fine every time for me. Like others have said. Target mob, hold down Y then left click. Hold Y and right click calls them off.

I always forget all about this command. My clannfear seems useless generally, and I just keep him around because dinosaurs are cool.

I find my pet to be helpful a lot of the time, but sometimes he just runs off and does his own thing.

But when he holds aggro he's a big help, especially in some of the boss battles where he gives me time to restore my stats.

It's great to be able to hide behind something for a few seconds and let him hold down the fort while I heal both of us.

I don't think you need to lock on to the target. I send my pet to kill farm animals without targeting them.

It seems to be working for me now, I'm not sure that I'm doing anything different but it's working.

It doesnt seem to always work and can seemingly put the pets in freeze mode, but unsummoning and resummoning usually works for me.

Agreed. Attack *always* works the first time. But sometimes after whatever they're attacking has died, they will just stand there and no longer even follow you anymore. (I'd almost suspect the "in game" logic behind the function is really just a command to move to that location. Attacking whatever is standing there is just incidental. And then somehow it breaks and doesn't return to normal. Maybe it never gets the "leave combat" event? Maybe because you killed the enemy before it ever attacked the pet? Maybe because the pet killed it instead of you? Maybe the opposite?)

Cancelling the attack will return them to following you, but sometimes after that they will get stuck on "cancel" mode, and never attack anything again regardless of how many times you tell them to, or how badly you're getting pummeled.

edit: And some wierdness, I've occasionally now actually had my pet not "zone" with me into a house, but actually remain outside the house "in combat" fighting.
