    You sure it was one? I've been noting sorcs spamming these pets lately. It's very cheap to do, and does a lot of damage. You just click the pet button, then click again to 'despawn' and they blow up. Rinse, repeat.

    its the new thing in cyrodil, lots of sorcerers are spamming pets now......

    so they spam the pet 5 times in a row in 8 secs?..Cause on my screen he spawned one. And when i played a sorc in beta..pets exploded when they died/were killed..not when the were despawned.

    Volatile Familiar:
    "Summons an explosive familiar to attack enemies. Explodes on death or upon unsummoning, causing 20% of your Max Magicka as damage and stunning nearby enemies for 2 seconds. Toggle to activate. Reduces Max Magicka by 10%. Familiar deals 15% additional damage."

    Also with rebate, you get back 15% of your mana each time you desummon it, so it's very low cost.

    Something tells me this is a bit more of a powerful pbaoe then the devs had in mind :)

    alright then..I was wondering. Thankyou for the info. but yes an insta 400 damage spell is something to be looked at.

    the problem I'm really having though is I saw the spawn a pet animation once. My health didn't slowly go down..it just dropped.

    I think that sometimes the ability will hit twice where it should only have been one explosion. That is the bug.

    This is correct, I think there is a video of it somewhere of players testing it out. For some reasons it explodes twice when you unsummon it. While this tactic isn't good for cyrodiil, it makes it annoying in duels. As a tip, the explosion radius is very small so its easy to dodge if you get use to moving away from it.

    I am the one who made the video. It only sometimes double hits. He is right though, the radius is tiny and easily dodged.

    I think that sometimes the ability will hit twice where it should only have been one explosion. That is the bug.

    correct. it's been documented several times.

    Volatile Familiar:

    In full light armor it costs 560 magicka to cast... it's not cheap..even with the rebate.

    It costs 719 with no cost reduction.

    The server lag has made this ability a little wonky sometimes from what I've seen, it's useful against dragon knights or in situations where the small aoe will work well. (it's really small, which makes it sometimes hard to hit anything at all)

    In 8 seconds you can probably cast it around 5 times. (purely guestimate) You'll also probably be low on magicka.

    New FOTM... Its spreading like a disease, even low VR Sorc's just Bolt inn, spam a few Pets, Bolt out :lol:

    This Sorc was spamming his Pets, they kept hitting for twice the damage (one from Player, one from Pet)

    Pets have been absolutely useless in PvP since launch, super weak and were complete pointless. Now, there is actually i viable way to use them, the one and only way and the first thing people do is moan.

    The only thing they need to fix with this, is the bug that makes one explosion hit multiple times.

    Makes no difference, it's still the ONLY way that pets are currently effective in PvP.
    Having them running around is pointless as the damage is incredibly low, especially for the 20% magika reduction you get if you have both out.

    My point. I have no problem with people using suicide-Pets, but i'm not a big fan of the obviously bugged double explosion that occurs pretty often.

    Also witnessed multi-explosions were it seems one pet almost insta-kills someone like OP describes. Then its time to call a shovel a shovel and not cry for nerf, but simply a fix.

    Totally agree! In general lots are calling for a nerf, but it needs fixing plain and simple. They feel it's doing massive damage, not realising its bugged and hitting them twice or instakilling

    I find it interesting that someone who knows about the bug and has video of the bug spawns their pet only when in close proximity to a melee target...almost as if they KNEW it would bug out. :\

    Yeah, granted, pets are useless in their current state in PVP. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't nerf or change abilities that are being used completely out of their intended concept.

    Its akin to knowing that Invasion+talons "sometimes" renders an enemy perma stunned..so I just go around spamming invasion and talons until I bug out my enemy. ;)

    I don't mind a sorc spawning a pet and then despawning the pet once for an explosion (and it occasionally bugs out) but to use that as your entire rotation in a 1V1 is just lame.

    sorry, but I don't even use reflect.. I have more important things on my hotbar than bright orange wings begging you NOT to cast projectiles at me. ;) (at the moment)

    Well then it would be silly to use the familiar bomb on you. Any decent sorc should be able to do way more damage than just spamming that skill, if able to use their skills.

    I mean, even a melee sorc, I would think you'd throw something else into the mix.

If i know that every Sorc is gonna turn into a 2k damage uni bomber..the speed in which the familiar was spawned and unspawned..and i looked at my hits in my damage meter.. I got hit way more times than just 5 times with that exact number in damage...

    I watched a guy on our side tonight trying it. I saw the spawn..despawn..spawn..despawn...that's not what happened in this fight.
    There was no lag..I got knocked down with shards and then watched a pet spawn at over half health thinking "Ok I have time to go into a rotation" and then dead.

    Yeah it's not supposed to hit you 5 times super fast like that.. it takes a couple seconds to spawn/despawn, like what you said you were watching. I'm not sure what happened in that fight. I have seen instances with server lag where the pet won't appear on the screen for a few seconds after summoning. I wish this skill wasn't bugging out so much, if everything was working right and a sorc was standing right next to you spamming it, (assuming you've broken the stun) you should be able to whip that sorc into submission.

    Honestly overcoming the pet is super easy (especially for a DK). The radius is tiny and the spawns are about one every 3 seconds.

    Just spam talons and whip while always moving behind the sorc, then pickup your easy AP. You're welcome.

    Not if you are rooted at the top of inside keep stairs under oil and a standard though. Properly placed it is abused.

    I see this listed in death recap in different ways. Sometimes it lists it as the OP has seen which doesn't give you the player name. That's the bug IMO which could indicate this was a one-hit wonderbug.

    I'm not sure on that though. People have tested this so can someone confirm that, when it does only once, that death recap credits the player and not the pet for the damage? Or is it all random spaghetti mess?
