Maybe a little level segregation would be good?

My wife and I love to take our time and enjoy all the guesting, exploration and crafting while leveling. Lately a couple things have been "annoying".

1. VRxx's doing low level Dark Anchors. It is not too much fun to be a level 6 or 7 trying to compete in the dark anchor outside Vulkhel Guard when a VR12 oneshots everything before you can get a hit in.
2. Running Toothmaul Gully as a level 8 when VR 2's and VR 1's are running their friends through - leaves very little for us to do.
3. etc... over and over.

It would be nice to have instances where all levels are allowed and instances where there is a limited range of levels allowed based on the quest/dungeon level, and then some way to select which type instance you want to play it.

I would even like EOS to start selling VR templates in a game store so people that don't want to bother leveling can just buy a VR12 and not have to run through the quests - so the rest of us can enjoy the questing without the noise. I could see them selling a endgame package, complete with optional achievements for extra $$$. Wouldn't bother me at all for people to just buy their way to end game. I expect many already do, by paying for power levelers.

Or make it democratic so that during an 'instance', all players involved in that quest or instance are automatically relevelled to within a reasonable margin for the challenge ... like they do it in FFIV ..

I sometimes have gone to help guild members through public dungeons or dolmens or whatever.. but if i see someone else there i invite them to the group so they hopefully get some exp as well.

Er... no that would be horrible.. never do this Zenimax.

I'm no game developer/coder, but I think there might be a fairly functional fix for this.
I know that each map area can have multiple iterations of itself at any one time to avoid over crowding (for example, when you group with someone who's in the same area but you cannot see/interact with them until you " travel to player").
For instanced dungeons at least (as I'm sure this would be rather difficult for open-world content like anchors, unfortunately), there can just be coded protocols implemented that assures characters of certain level increments above the basic map level always spawn their own unique iteration, and would allow characters of roughly the same level range into those various iterations, if they happen to show up at the same time.
For the open world content, as mentioned, I'm sure the above system would be a lot harder to accomplish, so I'm not sure how Zeni could address that. But I still have slight faith in humanity and I'm hoping that more times than not if you encounter a high level player face-rolling a low level anchor or world boss, if you just use chat (and they happen to notice) to ask them to let you tag things for credit, they will happily slow down. It's not a perfect fix obviously, and there are still jerks who just won't care, but I think it's definitely worth a try.

You just lost every bit of credibility your post had with this idiotic statement.

First step is to stop playing long enough to go outside. (Or alt-tab to E-harmony...)

I'd prefer to see a scaling option where your level and stat would scale down to match a high end person in the area. That way you could go back and always have it be somewhat challenging. Make it more fun when going back completing things and doesn't get in the way of lower level people who actually want to experience the challenges and trials like OP said.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

When I'm on my VR8 and in a lowbie area finishing this or that achievement or w/e I'm always mindful if there are others near me and will allow them to get in some hits before I touch the mob, that way they get credit too. Unfortunately common courtesy isn't so common these days. I certainly don't like the idea of being deleved when I enter a Delve that's too far below my own level, so I'm not sure that's a great way to fix it. Best I can say is speak up, let the VR players know you aren't getting credit and for them to allow you to get some hits or to join their group so you benefit from it.

The only bad side is sometimes she starts to leak and I have to blow her back up.

I recently went back to Toothmaul Gully at level 45 to do the achievements, and I was wondering, what is considered the most polite way for a high level character to intrude a low level area?

I went full healer, healing everyone around me, and only did light and heavy attacks when I wanted to kill something, but I didn't know if people would be upset that I wasn't killing all the things and making it easier for everyone else.

I was at a dolmen as a VR10 that I hadn't completed. I'd gone back for completion, I was there by myself. I was 3/4 the way through finishing when a lower level player arrived and joined in on the fun, I was just sitting back silver sharding them to death before he had arrived, when he got there the lower player went mental that I was kill stealing.

It was a case of I was there first, and in my mind that means I have the right to do what I want, but then I'm not a total tossa, so I did let him in on the action and get with the killing, as it'll no doubt help him. I wasn't oblivious to that fact. But then he went on to PM me in chat and say he was going to report me for blocking him... I couldn't believe it!

If I wanted to, I could have blocked him but I didn't. I let him in on the action, so It can go both ways and why should I get shafted for wanting to go back and complete a few things I've missed.

I do agree though that not having to mix a low level with a vet player would be a good thing. It would remove situations like that from ever having to happen.

Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I met my wife online - we played together for a year or so, then got married and have been married for 4 years now. Oh, and we just retired.

I like the idea of separating people by level using separate levels. How about a separate instance for characters (or groups containing characters) more than two or three levels above content level?

I have been at low level dark anchors a number of times when the mobs died before they even rezzed, and it was an extreme challenge to get in a hit or two. There were always one or more high level characters around when this happened.
  • j.frank.nicholsb14_ESO
I am sure that some (most?) VRs don't intentionally try to be rude, but that is not my point.

With the Dolmen, obviously there can be problems if beyond just getting a couple hits in to get credit for the dolmen and turn it black on your map. There is the Fighters guild xp, as well as the loot. And even beyond that is the wanting to learn how to fight in that environment. It is great fun to find a dolmen at about level and get to solo it - I was soloing one in Stone Falls just the other day - I think about level 10 or so. I had been working on it for about 15 or 20 minutes and it was the best time I have had in a long time!

In dungeons, again, it is the challenge of figuring out how to deal with 5 level 7 mods as a level 8 in Toothmaul Gully. And not backing into another five when you aren't looking. Finishing TG by myself gives me a sense of accomplishment, having a VR "help" me if not fun - I don't quest to get to endgame, I quest for the fun of questing.

As to those that think my suggestion of having VR templates available for sell is "idiotic", I am sure you are aware that there are companies that will power level an account to VR level for you - for a price. So, it is already going on, with my suggestion it would simply get all those that are totally not interested in anything before end game, where they want to be and out of the way of all the players that want to enjoy the journey.

And, I know this may come as a shock to some here, and it why I don't post often, but not everything you disagree with is idiotic...
  • j.frank.nicholsb14_ESO
There is a setting in the Settings -> Game Play (I think there) for having the game automatically adjust the difficulty for you to match the area or group or something - I don't use it, so I don't know for sure what it does. I love to get in over my head and have to work hard to figure out a way to survive.

Yeah, they're called P2W F2P Korean MMO's. That's not what ESO ever needs to be. Not to mention, if people paid to reach VR12, then you would have total noobs trying to do VR dungeons and PvP when they have absolutely no idea how to play their characters. It's called ENDGAME for a reason...

No to every idea in that post.

Buying your way to v12? 99% would quit if they allowed that.
