How do Guilds work?

Hi, I am not exactly new (playing since early april) but I have been soloing so far, joining just a few trading-guilds. So I have no idea how Guilds work exactly.
My questions are:

1)If I join a multi faction guild (with player from all three factions) will I be able to play with them in PvE? I mean, I am from EP, can I group up with a player from another faction and quest with them? I guess it's not possible in 1-50 content, but at Veteran Ranks?

2) And in PvP? I guess that in PvP it all depends on which campaing and faction in that campaing a player choose. Is that right?

3) And in Craglorn? Are there restrictions too?

4) What are the problems with a multi-faction guild?

    1) Unfortunately, no. I'm not positive about this, but I've heard that even with VR, you can only see players from your own faction.
    2) If you meet up in PvP, they will show up as hostile. I know this because we had a multi-faction get-together in Cyrodiil, and everyone from the other factions was red and could kill each other.
    3) Don't know, so I can't comment.
    4) Other than playing together, I don't really see any other problems. I'm in several cross-faction guilds, and there's a lot of chatting, trading, and helping each other out with crafting.

    Well... from the last info a new question arise:

    How a multifaction guild works?
    It makes sense only for a Trading guild, but all the other activities in game would hardly work:
    PVE - you can't group with guildmates from other factions, not even in common Vet area like Craglorn!
    PVP - if you and your guildmates join the same campaign in Cyrodiil they will have to fight each other!
    RP - the only place you can meet your guildmates will be in Cyrodiil, but you will need to be careful where you meet as they will be enemies and may be killed by other players in your faction.

    This makes a lot of sense ESO lore-wise, but it makes really hard in all the aspects of the game. Is it really this way?
