If armor dyes are coming within the next few weeks, I withdraw my complaint, as the issue will resolve itself. It will however create new ones, as described at the end
I will not go into the general dissatisfying "Everything's blue" look of veteran armor.
My main issue is that across the board of armor levels and racial styles, superior quality armor always seems to look best.
E.g. lvl 50 Altmer Ebony Armor: In the superior version, the armor is mostly ebony-appropriately dark, while details like borders and the eagle(?) shine in a nice gold finish. Have you seen it? It looks awesome!
Upgrade it to epic quality and what do you get? Everything becomes a mix of grey and dark grey with green (urgh!) chainmail sections. I haven't seen the legendary version, but based on other exhibits, I'd conclude it looks even blander.
With armor dyes, we could of course change this to our liking. I still think there should be a visible difference between the quality levels, as right now it seems to only be the coloring that sets them apart.
Two possible solutions:
- Increase the amount of details that can be recolored with dyes as the quality increases. With normal armor only the base color should be changeable, while a legendary cuirass' eagle can be a different color than the rims.
- Set the qualities apart by reducing scratches and dents as the quality goes up.
I know there are more important issues right now, but the way my character looks very much influences my enjoyment of the game.
Thanks for reading.
