We are currently investigating issues some players are having logging into the European PC/Mac megaserver. We will update as new information becomes available.
Love the changes to the armor, but this needs to be done to keep players happy
When 1.3 goes live, ANY piece of gear already created using materials pre-patch, will break down and return 100% of the materials used. You literally changed everything about this game with 1.3 and the new set bonuses. You cannot expect players to simply say "oh well" when they spend countless gold on materials to make said items.
This way, you only need to recreate the glyphs involved and not the entire set.
I hope everybody is prepared for this to not happen. I have never seen an MMO do this, despite changes to gear. I hope nobody is getting their hopes up that this will happen.
If it does, though, then good on ZOS for making it happen.

Agree, but this is EVERY piece of gear in the game that lots of people spent hours upon hours gathering gold and materials for. Not to mention, a lot of people paid crafters a lot of money to get the higher research set pieces.
Horrible PR mistake if materials arent given back in FULL to the player, just for items made pre 1.3.
Every time an MMO updates, new gear will be needed. That's the nature of the beast.
And the set changes, while significant, aren't enough to warrant some kind of full refund. First, all the sets are being buffed up. More importantly, none of the basic attributes of the sets are changing in any significant way. If you had Hunding's Rage now, then 1.3 isn't going to require you to change sets or significantly alter your playstyle in order to be effective.
MMOs change. Gear changes when they do. You have to get used to it and remember that even these sets will become obsolete in a few months.
First of all, making new armor gives you a new goal. Rejoice!
But if you don't think that's a good thing, perhaps I can persuade you that a free armor disintegration is a bad idea.
1) The way you said it implies that it would automatically dismantle your items, This would cause issues such as people wanting to keep their armour, and also not having enough inventory space for the items.
But lets say it's an optional thing.
2) Should everyone get this free 'armor-respec', even if it's just because they regret using their upgrade materials on iron armor when they could have used steel? Clearly not. this upgrade doesn't affect their armor choices. So how do you decided who gets it? VR12 only? What about all those people who got their max VR10 armor?
But regardless of who gets it...
3) What happens when a new armor sets are brought out in future releases (Which i'm sure will happen). That's also a major change to the available sets. Should everyone get the chance to rebuild their armor everytime? I think not...
4) Many of the changes were bug fixes anyway - not major changes. Either making them do what the tooltip says, or making the tooltip say what the set actually did.
5) Economy issues, If you flood the market with good materials, trade in materials will be slowed.
I'm kind of bored about this issue now, so I'm going to stop writing :-).
