armor & weapon post level 50

tintin_milou
Hi everyone!

I think I will reach level 50 in a week or so! B)

So far I just pick up looted armors, weapons, rings etc from quests and they have performed well. Any advice for VR1 and on? Should I ask crafters for armors and weapons then? Or are the VR looted items good enough to level?

If I were to ask for crafters for armors and weapons, (I am DPS) what type of qualities/traits etc should I ask for? Are blues good enough? And typically how much would a 7-piece set of blues cost (so I know how much to save). And here is a daring question... how much would a purple piece of armor cost typically? ;)

A Related question. If I buy crafted armors for VR1, at what higher levels do they become obsolete?

Thanks for helping! :D

VR is getting nerfed soon, so past experiences won't apply any longer - hard to give advice as to what will be good enough. But i'd say blue armor should be OK.

If you are going to buy from a crafter, you should have a look at what crafted sets are availabe, and pick one you like: http://www.tesoelite.com/2014/04/eso-crafting-item-sets-guide/

For traits, i would suggest precise on weapon(increase crit chance) and on armor either impenetrable(resistance to crits) if you plan to pvp, or infused(ncreased enchantement effect) if you only plan to pve.

Can't offer you advice on prices, since i craft for myself.

Hey. Yes i do recommend buying some setswhen you reach vr1. Green quality should be enough. Dont forget to enchant them. I used my crafted vr1 gear up until vr4
As for prices, i sell a white set item for 1k, 1.2 for green, 2.2 for blue and about 6-7 for purple.

Thanks for your helpful comment Sharee and AeroHotah! :D

Wow so a crafted set of VR1 greens would last to VR4? And I also have to buy enhancement on top! :o Well... VR is going to be expensive for sure. Maybe I'll ask you for a set Aero when I get to VR1! Or you Sharee if cheaper! :p

Well i can craft any 6 traits set in any profession, any style, any lvl and any quality so if you are from EU and agree with my prices then add me. I can also make any lvl glyph. I got all 6 professions maxed out on my main character.

Unless you want to spend 10k a day on repairs, you should just wear whatever you can find.

The most I have ever paid for repairs after a full day of adventuring in VR1 and having my armor degrade to almost nothing was about 1.2k

I craft a set for myself either green or blue every new VR level, just for the fun, and to try different styles, but armour/weapons can last a couple more levels too. It's also fine if you want to use whatever you get as loot, unless you are lookig for a set bonus.

If you are on EU, I am happy to craft anything for free - you just need to provide the materials and tell me what you want. I can craft in any style, sets up to 6 trait requirements, and glyphs too.

With regards to repair costs, if I let armour get completely broken it would cost roughly 1200 gold for an NPC to repair it - nothing too expensive unless you are a tank (tanks get hit more often than ranged characters and therefore their armour degrades faster).

I am on the NA server, the convention for crafted sets seems to be cost of upgrade mats (or mats) + crafter fee for the effort.

Personally I charge 2k for sets requiring 2-6 traits, 5k for 7-8 trait. If you don't want a set, 1k, which is what a lot of people buy research items for.

I don't charge for upgrades as long as you give me the upgrade mats. Except the green ones, those are on the house.

I don't believe a crafter set to be mandatory for performance, however good glyphs are really important! They allow you to max out your resource pools. But since you'll be enchanting your gear, you may as well have a nice set. When I got to VR1 I made myself a full new set of blue armor, purple weapons, and enchanted everything with purple glyphs. It has served me well so far, and I don't plan to change until VR 5.

If you ever have specific questions or need some help designing a gear set, feel free to contact me here or in game, I will do my best to help

Thanks for all your help again! :D I am on the NA server so I could only request from the only NA crafter (so far) in this discussion... I hope to do so soon!

I forgot to ask earlier this noob question: what are traits? And what does knowing 8 traits allow a crafter to make? Putting all 8 traits on one armor? Thanks!

I guess that depends how on your play style and length of a "full day".
If I fight a lot of mobs, my armour typically degrades to nothing in about an hour or so, and that's without dying.

Traits are the things crafters research to be able to craft an item with that specific trait and craft different item sets, some sets require 8 traits researched, some only 2 etc.
