Sometimes there are triple (or more) confirmation screens for simple mundane tasks.
Why can I not just push a button and go to the pvp area?

No I think that is fine...set it up and you've only yourself to blame when you screw up. Personally...though sometimes I give the sigh of frustration...I'd keep the confirmations. I get distracted by shiny objects so I need those confirmations! ha ha
