Cyrodiil/PvP FPS Issues: YOU WILL LOSE SUBS IF THIS IS NOT FIXED

    Best options ZOS have in this moment ;

Fix the bug ( this monday is probably out of question )
    Start talking
    Credit players for lost time
    Fix the bug (eventually)
Fire lot of people basically all faces we know from the interviews. That should be publicly announced coz those guys are liability.
Start removing debris what left after the storm.

Note: Yes i forgot this one - fire your PR department ( including cleaning lady ) and hire professionals

    This.
Although I think you should keep the cleaning lady. When I look at interviews people are wearing clean clothes. She might be the only one there who is actually doing her job.

I get that this is your first MMO ZOS, but your communication skills is absolutely appaling. Sticking heads into the sand is not going to make us forget these issues, communicating with us might make us forgive them.

This is PURE gold over here...!

Cant you guys just work on the multi threading, I believe this is where all the problems come from. We have quad core CPU´s that are utilized by 20% max, this isn't right in 2014 ;)

Or work with AMD on Mantle if possible, it would help players a lot.

All new games have issues. I understand the FPS issues are frustrating and I agree they need to be fixed ASAP. A ZOS rep has already said they are working on it as fast as humanly possible.

Honestly though, all these "do this NOW or ELSE!" and "you will loos mai monies!" posts are really pretty infantile and unproductive.

If you are really that impatient, and can't go enjoy some other aspect of the game for a week or two while they get things worked out, then just leave. Don't come onto the forums and make threats and announcements like you are going to single-handedly blackmail ZOS into pulling out their Harry Potter wand.

They weren't holding back the fix snickering to themselves until you came along with your threats. No one cares. Quitting posts are against the TOS for a reason.

They provide nothing constructive and don't alter the fabric of space time to magically fix the problem any faster.

Being responsible for my companies IT structure, I understand that these problems takes a long time to fix, there are so many things that needs to be investigated and the culprit isn't always as obvious.

The best way to mitigate damage like this is to give out as much information as possible to your customers. Post a daily update on what you guys are doing, you have excellent forum moderators here, make sure the developers are actually using these moderators to the fullest by relaying information to your customers.
We have had this problem for almost three week now and it's getting to the point where it is getting unacceptable.

Withholding information from yur customers is a great way *** people off.
Sadly I think that's what you are doing. Saying that you are working on this problem and will release a fix as soon as possible was acceptable the first and maybe the second week. Three weeks in a row though? Get your act together, share the information and you will see that your customers will at least be less frustrated.

I as many other PvPers have had this problem for some time, some of us have workarounds that involves avoiding big fights and just going in small group crashing and logging off to reset the graphic cache.
Is this an acceptable long term solution? No!
Is three weeks that long of a time? Seeing as the game has been out almost 14 weeks and a huge part of it has been flawed for three weeks, then yes.

I dunno if this looks like a memory leak issue here.

It's not a memory leak. Relogging fixes the issue as you say. If it were a memory leak you would have to quit the client to fix it and if you didn't you would eventually crash because of it.

Push out patch regardless of whether or not you know 100% if it is the issue. You can't really make it any worse than it is now, in its current state it is unplayable.

    Really?

Seems to me that ZOS are already establishing a track record for pushing patches that make things worse.

But I guess the point is that if there is a "trial" patch or one that contains additional diagnostics to help identify the route cause(s) of the issue(s) then it would be strongly advisable for ZOS to be open about that. Make it clear that the issue isn't fully understood yet and that the patch is intended to help with that.

The absolute worst thing that ZOS could do now is to throw out another patch trumpeting it as a fix for the issue when it fails to achieve that.

It comes down to expectation management and communication - neither of which appear to be strengths for ZOS. It really is a mystery to me why nobody from the senior team at ZOS hasn't come to these forums and made a statement acknowledging that they've got things wrong; what they're doing to address this (changes to processes / changes to personnel / schedule for resolution); and possibly offering some extra game time by way of compensation.

Right now it feels like "Mushroom Management" - keep customers in the dark and feed them manure.

I think in the 13 weeks this game has been out, I only enjoyed about 3-4 days without major problems in Cyrodiil.

The first problem was the falling though the world bug. Then it was the stacking of 0 cost Vampire Ulties. By the time that got fixed it was the Caltrops bug rendering siege equipment useless. Then /stuck while carrying the scroll would allow you to teleport to base with the scroll. And finally the FPS issue making it unplayable.

All the while siege and keep doors routinely don't work and your teammates' location on the map has been desync'ed since I don't even remember when.

But hey, we got some awesome new indoor lighting and Grindlorn so I guess it was all worth it.

To say there has been absolutely zero love for PvPers in this game so far would probably be the understatement of the year.

Want to know something Mr. PvE guy - Mr. I got a rotation guy? If all the people who bought this game for PvP leave this - I have already unsubbed and it runs out on the 8th - there will not be enough paying subscribers for the game to continue forward - meaning.....NO NEW PVE CONTENT.

    Guess what happens then?

They shut down the PC version - release the console version - and have to do a lot less. Problem with that is - the bad press for the PC version is going to make the console gamers laugh at this title when it hits their market.

@ZOS_AlvinM You need to adjust your Forum Rules, You are in Breach of EU Law.

Charter of Fundamental Rights in the European Union, which reads:

    Article 11

    Freedom of expression and information

    1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers.

    2. The freedom and pluralism of the media shall be respected.

As the company trades in the EU, you need to abide by EU Law.

Also you may want to look up on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Rules, as this is an organ of the United Nations, which quite explicitly categorises software as goods, whether it is delivered via a physical medium or intangibly.

If your goods are faulty, the consumer can process for a refund of their monthly subscription as this is also a service which you are currently in breach of. Every player that is unable to play the game as intended due to your poor service is by Law due a refund of their subscription for the last month.

Also @ZOS_AlvinM one of your rules states

Selling, Trading, and Sharing Game Accounts: The act of selling, trading, or sharing your ESO account is a violation of our Terms of Service. As such, we also do not allow discussion about selling, trading, or sharing game accounts on our forums.

I'm afraid this is incorrect. Please check on the recent EU Law that was passed on this issue 2 years ago. I will post an extract for you.

Buying and reselling any form of digital software is perfectly legal, the Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled. Software authors – or in the gaming world, publishers – can not stop customers from reselling their games, even if the publisher attaches an End User License Agreement prohibiting resale.

"The exclusive right of distribution of a copy of a computer program covered by such a licence is exhausted on its first sale," the court has found.

This ruling covers customers in European Union member states, and games bought through services such as Steam or Origin. The initial purchaser is now entitled to sell the license of a game and allow someone else to download it directly from the publisher's website. The tricky part now is selling the actual license, since there is no system in place for any such transaction. The initial buyer would need a code for a game's license and upon selling it, he would no longer be able to access that game on his account.

The ruling applies to the broader scope of software, covering items such as Windows and Adobe downloads. There is no word yet on whether game distributors will change policies or services to enable a license-selling process, but that would make Steam sales much more interesting in the EU.

I hope things are fixed correctly and these issues are complex. Everyone has different graphics cards and video drivers, different monitors and trying to make something that works across them all as best as possible is no easy task I am sure.

One thing that took my good performance and made it bad was adding in those graphics textures recently. I now get loading screens all over the place and objects that slowly phase in little at a time in groups.

I used to not have this.

    Within; Without.
  • tino.antoninieb17_ESO
Ok i am writing this very slowly so some of you can understand better - this fps issue is not exclusive for pvp - it is present in pve as well - vet dungeons and Craglorn ( drops to 5-6 fps as well ) its just more obvious, intensive and frequent in Cyrodiil.
Regarding guys who are pleading for common sense and more "appropriate/moderate" approach - we did that for last two weeks and what changed - nothing or close to nothing. Still we have sentence "we are working on it" and on other side when we ask about compensation they are waving with legal documents. In general i think they don't know what they are dealing with here - just to give u slight idea how superficial they are - when i asked cs to credit me for lost game time i got answer in this direction - u wouldn't benefit from that coz anyways game is not functional. Ofc i am giving u my interpretation of that mail instead of quoting coz i dont want to meet their lawyers after all .
I am not lawyer and dont have knowhow for interpreting pile of legal acts and laws, but still i can use common sense - ZOS has to at least find middle ground coz they are not in very good situation - simply they have to publicly recognise magnitude of this fps screw up , stop bleeding and hand over piece of meat.

This fps thing will not go away , even when its solved it will still hover over this game and what it will be remembered is how ZOS acted during this episode. So far - no good.

Don't like paying ZOS to fix things that should have been polished before launch? Unsub.

Don't like paying for what they consider "DLC style" content? Unsub.

It's simple and doesn't require a thread. They will hear you with absolute clarity when you put your wallet back in your pocket and walk away. Me personally? Yeah I'm unsubscribed, and I'm not going to sub back up for them fixing something they broke in the first place. They make content, I buy content, that's how this works. Nothing personal @ZOS, just business. You're a game development studio, you develop games, and when you do well you receive my money. You do a poor job and my money will go to those who do a better job than you. Business is business.

You want my money @ZOS? Sell me something I want to buy. You expect payment for a fix for something you broke? Ummm, no. You give me a call when you have the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild, and the Crime System to sell me. You fixing your *** ups is not my fiscal responsibility.

I'm just going to assume this patch did nothing for the fps. That's one more week of unplayable fps drops in Trials, PvP and also in Craglorn.

Are they completely nuts at ZOS? It's getting up to 3 weeks soon, than a month. A lot of content involved where paying customers cant participate without relogging every 5 minute. Not sure how long people will stick around. My guild mates are just bleeding out really.

I only have those 2-4 fps drops in PvP to be fair. Lucky me. But others have them in PvE as well, especially PvE raids like trials, Craglorn landscape groups and so on.

This is not scientific by no means but I think it does show that PVP is a definate minor part of this game atm.... PVE is the part I think they are more concerned about ... Just a hunch ... But I do not think they are taking this lightly , but Im sure they are not going to drop everything to fix this...

Notice also that most PvPers are serious about gaming...and they are going to quite if this isn't fixed soon. Hopefully Zenimax management has more sense than you do...

Personally, I will finish the single player game, but only because I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan going back to Arena. I am literally sad about where this game is going, because PvP is the endgame for a lot of people like myself who don't care for 'farming', and it has so much potential. But once people start leaving, there will not be enough population for the campaigns and the whole concept will collapse, leading to more people leaving.
