I was playing last night and found myself quite shocked.
I had spent all my gold on a respec (over 5000 gold), and had gone out into the world to get some loot to sell off to recover my losses. After 3 hours of play, I returned to Mournhold and went to sell off my loot and found it was all worth 0 gold. All worthless.
This surprised and angered me. I commented about it in chat, and was told this was a recent change. I can't fathom WHY it was made.
Gentlemen, this is not a good idea. Selling loot is the main source of income for most players, especially at lower levels.
Mobs lower level than me drop no loot or gold, and loot from crates and whatnot is now worth no gold (and ALSO worthless for crafting, as they produce neither xp nor materials). So, there is no way to make any gold in the zone where I'm adventuring.
Now, I could craft items and try to sell them through a guild store, but so far I've not seen ANYTHING sell on a guild store. This may be in part because I have no gold to buy things like pitch to upgrade items I craft. Normal items don't sell, and looted items don't produce any crafting materials to allow me to make better items to sell.
Thus, there is no way to make gold from looting foes.
There is no way to make gold from looting crates.
There is no way to make gold from crafting items.
Thus, my character is trapped, stuck with 3 gold coins, and no way to earn more.
This could be a game breaker. I'm pleading with you now to fix this before it does irreparable damage to the game. It's fine, even good, to put in money sinks. It's NOT good to just take away the main source of money in the game.
Now, I should also say that I realize I get gold and loot from foes around my level. However, the issue there is that I also get xp from them, meaning I outlevel the area I'm in, and the missions I'll be getting as I proceed into new zones.
Outleveling the area I'm in means I get nothing from anything I do there. Outleveling to content means it becomes trivial, which isn't any fun.
Usually, I like to play without needing to do quests. I'll wander the landscape fighting off creatures (even if they're weaker than me - sometimes it's nice to not have to worry about being killed), investigating caves, and so on. My activities are financed by getting loot to sell, so I can repair my gear, perhaps buy new gear or respec to try new skills. This represents 90% of my gameplay. It's how I played every single Elder Scrolls game since Arena. It distresses me greatly to think I won't be able to do that anymore.
Please, don't leave it this way, I implore you, for all our sakes.
Perhaps a solution of sorts would be to let us "freeze" our xp/skill level. That is, once I reach a certain level, I could activate a toggle and lock all xp and skills at that point. I could then continue adventuring in the zone I'm in without outleveling it or upcoming content, and I would still be able to get and sell loot.
In any case, something needs to be done. I don't think you can leave it as it is without serious harm befalling the game.
