I'm an Explorer :). Technically, I guess that makes me mostly PvE since I get no enjoyment in beating other players. I don't get any enjoyment out of beating Game Bosses either.

I do the quests and read the quest-givers tale but occasionally I think they are wasting my time by "talking" exposition at me. I also want to try the various different play modes of the characters so I'm used to having multiple characters with different skills but I don't have issues switching to something different to the character on occasion.

I investigate all the nooks of a locality that I can reach and investigate any oddities I find. The marker game systems make this easier in some ways, more difficult in others. For this reason, I don't think I can be classified as a casual gamer as I've been rather OCD about it in many games. By the same token, I'll blow off playing, if I have an interesting book handy.

I'm somewhere between serious and casual. I don't feel a strong desire to raid or do trials right now, but that could change. But I also spend a large amount of time in this game chasing down achievements, all quests, trophies, exploring every single thing, and dabbling in pvp.

So I guess in terms of time played, I'm hardcore.

In terms of "end game" content done, I'm casual.

    I play games.

No, but seriously, folks. I usually only play one game at a time until I get tired of it. I usually spend 4-6 hours a week gaming, except for unusually busy times when I may not game for a month or times between projects when I may play 30 hours in a week (I"m self-employed, so my work schedule is erratic.)

I guess that makes me a casual player? I don't crunch numbers, I don't fret over builds, I just like to escape from regular life for a little while and have a little fun.

I'd say taking your time to explore is serious gaming, not a 'casual' trait necessarily.

I am a serious gamer who takes their time exploring, but that isn't an option.

I PVE so I can get back to PVP. I'm not a serious gamer in that I will devote an ungodly number of hours into play. I am, however, serious enough that I will read up on game news/development and take time to consider/adapt my builds.

I don't think I fit into any choice apart from 'other'.
My playstyle is Hardcore casual in that i'm on for 5 hours every day (after work) and I always set out to grind quests..
...but always get distracted by a craft node I have to collect (dont really have to collect but i'm a packrat) or a monkey I have to zapp with lightning which in-turn sends me 'off track' for hours then I remember I was ment to be doing quests.

Serious gamer, enjoy pve but the end game for me is pvp. Would like to have a warsong gulch type battleground that gives decent xp for leveling.

Saying that the pvp we have atm is awesome keep it as it is but fix the lag.

Play MMOs everyday and have done for over 15 years. I have a wife, two grown-up children, a job and a football season-ticket. Think it helps that my PC is in the front room so I interact with everyone whilst playing. This also means I rarely group so I can stop to do other stuff when needed, (holding a group up in a dungeon because I need to check dinner, run my partner to the shops or help decide what shoes go with what outfit doesn't work!)

I pvp as a side project at times, in order to soak up time theory crafting, but in ESO its all about story and lore at this point, as that makes up the bulk of content currently.

I haven't PvP'd much in ESO as there really isn't a broad enough skill selection yet (exacerbated by 5x2 hot keys), which means FOTM build/class or gtfo (pve is no better atm).

I voted "other", being a serious gamer who commits to a variety of games so could be said to be casual because I don't devote all my free time to just one, and who is solely PvE-oriented with no interest in PvP. I do like to take my time and see the sights, but see no reason why that should be defined as "really, really, casual".

It depends. Back in "The Game Which Shall Not Be Spoken Of" I leveled quickly, then helped others when I wasn't Pvp'n. BUT..I got caught up in the Pvp gear grind, so I was playing 8 hours a day non stop just for that next piece. Then the expansion hit...and my gear was shiyt again.

I enjoy both PVP and PVE, but I don't have the time to devote daily long sessions any longer. So I suppose I could nowadays be called "casual", though I certainly approach the game with as much attention to detail and so forth as I ever have.

The only difference is that nowadays I've got a longer term plan.

I find this poll´s options to be quite misleading.
I´m the kind of player that likes games, that i can immerse in.
Reading books, gazing at sunsets, listening to all the npc´s and exploring, i enjoy just as much, as the regular PvE and PvP content.

The poll´s option for that would be "really really casual"... per definition that´s not casual at all. Probably the exact opposite - most casual gamers only play the core elements of a game and then leave.

You make an interesting point, especially in context of other TES games. The most devoted TES fans seem to be people who don't rush anywhere, don't care about accomplishing everything with one character and prefer to immerse themselves in the world instead.

I think in this poll hardcore means number crunching, race-you-to-the-top mentality whereas casual is taking it easy and enjoying the journey. Competitive Trail runs vs. spending the evening reading in-game books, for example. Of course you can do both, but you usually have a preference.
