There is an absurd abundance of people in this game who will rip you off. Espe I ally enchanters. Take the losers charging 4-6k for legendary in chants...you can buy Kuta for 800-1000g.... they are asking for a near 400%-600% profit margin..

    Lol!

You need a purple an chant? I'll do it for free. Msg me in game.

I don't enchant, but are you sure you have that right? I have never seen Kuta's less that 3k in a WTS shout and occasionally 2k for a WTB.

I think I have collected 5 in 3+ months of playing.

The reason they're listed as 2k in WTB is because the people listing it are buyers. They're trying to rip off lowbies by getting cheap mats. Generally the people looking to buy a sling of rare mats have slashed the average prices by a lot. Let's use Kuta history as an example.

At early access and launch, Kuta were selling for 1.5k - 2k in VR zones. Many high levels consequently came down to the lvl 5-15 zones to buy them for 1k, which sounds like a lot to a lowbie.

By the second month, Kuta were selling for around 2k - 2.5k in VR zones. So buyers in lower zones spammed WTB Kuta 1.5k.

Now Kuta sell for 3k - 3.5k. What do buyers spam in lower zones? WTB Kuta 2k each.

A month ago 2k for Kuta was average. Now it's a bargain.

    On the nail.

How do you think people merch (flip items) ^^

The joys of an open market and zone chats. Easy money.

Do tell where you can buy Kuta for that price. I've not seen Kuta selling for below 2,500g,

Yep, they do it with Bugloss/Mountain Flower and Columbine too. Plus to a lesser extent pepper/tomatoes/oats/etc. Generally if it's the newbie zone someone will call them out on it, which turns into an interesting flame fest. ;)

    completely his fault.

He should have said the price long before he made it and he should have recognized that.

Also I think your offer of restitution was more than fair.

Meh I don't care to flame or get flamed. Besides it is an open market. Buyers want to buy low. Sellers want to sell high. This is nothing new.

I do whisper an accurate price range to players who price check in zone or guild chat. I'm not a traveling merchant so it doesn't bother me if more players are aware of the actual going rates.

There was one that I called out in guild chat. He bought 3 purple drink recipes on the store for under 10k each. I check the sales history all the time, so I saw them when I logged in. He then immediately posts in that same guild's chat WTS [recipe links] 40k each.

I privately laughed and wasn't going to say anything. Then someone else in the guild said admiringly 'looks like RNG has been kind to you'. I couldn't contain it anymore and typed 'no it hasn't. he bought all those off the guild store. sales history doesn't lie' One of the sellers happened to be online and in chat even.

Maybe next time he'll be a little smarter about where he tries to resell. I don't have a problem with resales, but c'mon that's like buying a car and then trying to sell it to passerby while it's still in the dealership's lot.

That it is his fault, to make it before agreeing, is a given. However the people here shouting that its max xxx or yyy isnt accurate.

Before Crag it was 3k Kuta, 3k potency. With Craglorn farmer its still 3k Kuta, and 1k potency, so 4k, you want to get a profit, you want to be rewarded for the painfull grind, so a price of 6k is the lowest I would ever go.
    Why do people complain?

People actually buy this stuff. I make things all the time, then just sell it to the vendors or give it to my guild bank. I make things just for the fun of it.

I like to push buttons and making things require a lot of button pushes.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Cyrodil and Craglorn are RMT prices.... especially cyrodil.... go to lower lvl areas. Also get in good guilds. Buy in bulk.. I buy 30-50 kuta for around 40-60k..

Must be a difference between NA and EU servers. I have never seen them at a selling price probably less than 2.8k since early access. People offering to buy at what you consider 'rip off' prices are doing so publically, hardly a rip off.

But anyway, all that is besides the point, I was merely replying to someone who stated their value was between 800g and 1k. I think they may have been confused...or attempting to drive the cost down.

You can look at this as a contract, which is a meeting of the minds. There was no meeting of the minds in this case, no contract was made for services. He jumped the gun. Just an unfortunate misunderstanding. It's good you double check now, but crafters should do this as well.

no, both of you were wrong to not mention price. however he was being an idiot as he can still sell that rune at the store regardless

Fail. Only the crafter made an error. The original poster points out, he was asked "what do you want", not "what do you want and how much will you pay."

Some people seem to be addicted to a "its nobody's fault" or "its everybody's fault" view of the world. Sorry, not the case here. The crafter was under no obligation to make the item before agreeing to a price.

Dont worry about it. It's not a deal until you shake on it. Or in the case of games confirm the deal with a sentence. I.E. "so one glyph of bashing, purple quality for 5K right?" "correct" "ok lets do it". He was an idiot for making it and making a big deal instead of selling it over zone chat or guild store. sith happens. relax.

You shouldn't have to do anything but request, If you want things to go faster and cheaper, it helps to have mats on you readily, although I would only give mats to trusted crafters.

As a seller, it is their responsibility to inform you of the price they demand before doing the service. The guy abusing you is an idiot and has no business trying to do...business if he doesn't know how.

You were right in this scenario. He failed to inform you first

Totally his fault, but you can still take a lesson away from it. CYA. Wording is important, and it makes sense to word your requests so that people know you're only asking for information and not requesting that anybody make you something. It will reduce the chances of a misunderstanding.

Saying that doesn't imply that you did anything wrong. You didn't, and frankly, you should have reported him for the abuse he threw at you. You shouldn't have to watch your words to keep somebody from being a jerk. But it still might save you some heartache in the future.
