Was I at fault?

G’day guys,

I was recently in the market for a level 44 Purple health glyph so I asked the zone chat for an enchanter of that level. I got a reply from someone saying ‘what do you want?’, so I told them exactly what I wanted, 10min later I get a reply saying ‘That’s 4.5k’ to which I responded sorry mate I can’t afford that, the response I received was ‘Are you f#^&ing serious!? I’ve already made it!’

I even offered to trade him the appropriate runes and give him 1k for his time. After 4-5 more abusive messages about how ‘I should f#^&ing know the price of things before I ask for them’ and threats of him reporting me I just ignored him.

Now I’m making level1-V12 6/8 green, blue and purple Blacksmith gear for people at the moment of all styles and many various different traits and I always double check the order and tell them the price (And add the total up of multiple pieces) before I start crafting so they know exactly what they’re getting and how much it will cost

Although either way I didn’t deserve the abuse I received, was I in the wrong for not paying the amount he asked?

It's his fault for making it. It's your fault for breathing. These things happen. But no it's not your fault. You didn't give him the go ahead, you didn't tell him to make it, you just asked how much. You priced checked and there is nothing wrong with that.

    His fault.

In a technical sense you never accepted his offer - your request was an invite to others to make an offer . He messed up.

the price needs to be set first, its his fault.

I have people asking 2k for a glyph I can buy from vendor for 250.

I know the enchanting is a real pain to level, but some people asking for price that make it unsellable.

    Of course it's your fault.

    You should know the future.

You should know exactly what everyone else is thinking at all times.

And by all means, you made me that guy make an item without letting him tell you what a high price he was going to charge you.

    This is just common sense.

How dare you waste my HIS, I mean his time!

Maybe a little bit of both. As far as I know there are no standard prices.

I had a similar issue the other day, though I did have the money, I thought he was overpriced, and would not have bought if I had known beforehand what he was charging.

The guy had been spamming craiglorn for 30 mins before I logged in, so I missed his prices, and he thought they were out there and everyone knew. I must have just missed a spam as I logged in, and it looked to him that I was replying to his spam. Misunderstanding.

He would have kept the rune and resold, but it was a popular one (weapon fire) so he really wasn't put out much by making it.

    Not the same guy probably.

And the fact that he threaten to report him simply because he chose not to buy the overpriced item makes the seller a real D-bag.

I've had people do this exact same thing. Difference is I was trying to pm the person about a price and he didn't respond. Then he gets back to me and says it's made and he cod it to me for some crazy price. I just hit return and ignored him.

no, both of you were wrong to not mention price. however he was being an idiot as he can still sell that rune at the store regardless

I made that rune for you and then you say it's too expensive! Give me a break, prices are the same everywhere! Don't act stupid. Everyone in this forum back me up.

^what I imagine the seller would sound like if he was posting a reply here

On another note, saw someone looking to buy rekuta, I whispered the player if they needed denata or jejota. I had been questing for a couple hours and acquired about 3 of each and was going to let him have it for free. His response was. What are fing stupid I said REKUTA. So then in zone I typed free denata or jejota to a happy home.

If anyone constructs an item without a set price and the deal doesn't come through, the loss is on them. When I ask for an item I always get a price right up front. If I make an item for someone else and I don't set a price I generally accept whatever tip they offer. Some low-ball and some are more than fair. Everyone is happy and all is well with the world.

There is an absurd abundance of people in this game who will rip you off. Espe I ally enchanters. Take the losers charging 4-6k for legendary in chants...you can buy Kuta for 800-1000g.... they are asking for a near 400%-600% profit margin..

    Lol!

You need a purple an chant? I'll do it for free. Msg me in game.

It's his fault. I've been a max enchanter for awhile now and I always always confirm the prices and the exact order before crafting. My first question typically is along the lines of what level is the item you are putting it on. If it's a jewelry glyph, can you link me the jewelry so I can make sure it can be enchanted.

There is no consensus on the value of crafted items. I'm of the mind that a crafter can charge whatever they want for an item since it's custom made. A buyer also has the right to decide they don't like that particular crafter's prices and take their business elsewhere. You just ran into a derphead.

By the way, if you're still looking for that enchant, I can make it for you for far less.

Yeah I agree. First he tried to guilt me into into buying it then bully me into buying it. People being aggressive (especially online lol) don't really bother me, I was just surprised how he made assumptions then got angry and abusive so fast.

Absolutely not. You and the seller had not yet even discussed the terms of the sale, let alone made a verbal contract. You owe him nothing. He should have quoted you a price; that's the seller's responsibility in the real world, too. After that can come the negotiations; the bargaining. At the very least he could have said, "I can make that for you," giving you a chance to respond with a price query.

[edit] I hope he's reading this thread. :D

Obviously the other persons fault for expecting you to pay a price without first setting it. Your average /zone buyer does not go to a meal and eat then ask how much. Or buy a home, move in then ask how much.

This is a learning curve for that player. A life lesson so to speak. They are mad at themselves for expecting you to pay what they wanted, not the value or agreed price as nothing was discussed.

I think I have collected 5 in 3+ months of playing.

The reason they're listed as 2k in WTB is because the people listing it are buyers. They're trying to rip off lowbies by getting cheap mats. Generally the people looking to buy a sling of rare mats have slashed the average prices by a lot. Let's use Kuta history as an example.

At early access and launch, Kuta were selling for 1.5k - 2k in VR zones. Many high levels consequently came down to the lvl 5-15 zones to buy them for 1k, which sounds like a lot to a lowbie.

By the second month, Kuta were selling for around 2k - 2.5k in VR zones. So buyers in lower zones spammed WTB Kuta 1.5k.

Now Kuta sell for 3k - 3.5k. What do buyers spam in lower zones? WTB Kuta 2k each.

A month ago 2k for Kuta was average. Now it's a bargain.
