Farming the +2 Skill Book?

Soloeus
Soloeus
✭✭✭✭✭
All you need is to rush one player to that point, sac her for the +2 skill book, deposit in bank and log in your main. Read, then create a newb to repeat.

Will reading these "other" +2 skill books just cause them to break and poof out? Or will they give the +2 intended points?

Within; Without.

I would be surprised if that item isn't soulbound on pickup. If you could do as you suggest, it would be an obvious exploit that should be reported.

Reading the book does destroy it. So you would not be able to do this with all your characters over and over. Honestly, I never tried passing it along to another character.

the book is ''bound'' so you couldnt sell it, but you can put it in the vault and pick it up on another toon.. i have done it. though i did not go far enough to actually try to use it on the other toon as he is an alt and i didnt want to risk losing the points on my main.

Isn't that the FINAL Mage quest in the game? As in, gives you a level 43 reward (in this case it's a +2 SP book). I don't know how many people are willing to "rush" characters over and over again to at LEAST the upper 30's just to get +2 SP what, once a week? That's kind of a silly concept tbh. I finished both the Fighter's and Mage's Guilds at level 37 and it wasn't easy at all at that level.

EDIT: TBH if this is even doable, who cares. If someone really wants to waste THAT much time over and over and over again for 2 whole SP, by all means let them.

Even if it works to infinity, the sheer volume of time someone would have to devote to gaining 2 SP every few days/each week is ridiculous. Not to mention having to delete and make new characters to spend another several days/week or more to get a whopping 2 more SP.

Nice little reward for playing multiple characters but watch they change it because you made a thread about it.

I think we should call the girls in here to take a look at this before everyone starts going nuts with it.

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, @ZOS_GinaBruno‌

Is this an exploit or working as intended?

And yeah, I agree it's a lot of work for 2 skill points. But if you could do it multiple times, you could potentially have a character with unlimited skill points.

Well, i have 2 other chars that are just about to do the final mage quest as well.. but i don't think i'll throw more books at her just to see lol

I assume as it works twice, it'll work for more.

Unlimited? As in it takes you the next 3 years of playing 10 hours a day doing the same quests over and over and over until you want to stab your eyes out with a spoon just to see color kind of infinite? It's hilarious that you "called in the cavalry" for something that even if it's possible (multiple books) it's so unlikely that anyone would go to the trouble that it's laughable.

EDIT: By the time someone got to that "unlimited" number of SP everyone in the game would have every single active/passive ability as ZoS has already stated that with new content comes new SP until eventually we will have everything on every character.

@Dekkameron‌ Lol except that the book is account bound, which you can clearly see in your own screenshots. So, the goldseller would have to sell you an account, which they already do and which is already against the rules. I laugh in the face of any goldseller that attempts to sell account bound items without selling the account.

Tabbycat and DeLindsay both have fair points. I don't know if it's working as intended or an exploit. If it is an exploit, go you guys for finding it and bringing it to their intention. My suspicion is that it requires way too much work for anyone to seriously exploit it though. The whole point of exploits is the avoidance of work.

The only people I could see 'exploiting' this are people who just get hot and bothered when they hear the word exploit. Sounds like a sheltered middle class housewife shoplifting lip gloss so she can get a cheap thrill off of doing something "bad".

You also have the min-maxers who just have to have to be the best at everything. If farming a book for extra points on their main they couldn't get otherwise gave them an edge over everyone else, I've no doubt they'd do it.

What I'd hate is for someone to think that this was an intended game design, it turns out it's not and they get banned for taking advantage of it.

As insane as some min/maxers are, I don't see anyone putting a few days into a character simply to farm a couple of skill points.

working as intended or exploit, there really is no tactical advantage to doing it. sure you can unlock more skills, but its not like you have enough slots to use all those skills at once.

the weapon passives/guild passives etc only work for the weapon/guild abilities
and theres more than enough points gotten by normal means to max out all the passives that will help you at all times.

the only real benefit i could see using it for is perhaps crafting... but it would take you a year to get enough skill points to max your crafts by doing this.

There's only so many skills as well. I mean unless you want to level up EVERY weapon skill to its highest you wont need the extra points.

Exploits usually make life easier not harder, nobody is going to spend next 10 years farming 9999999sp at 2 skillpoints a pop by getting a zillion characters to L38 or so.

I usually get them stupid early because quest acquisition is based on guild level not player level.
