Are the expensive horses worth buying?

Is there a purpose to them besides running faster and is the extra speed that noticeable?

Ella_Mental✭✭✭It may seem like a lot of gold when you are first starting out, but once you have characters reaching Veteren levels more than likely (if determined) you could make up the 40K+ in a matter of hours by grinding dungeons.
The speed horse will end up being 10% faster than any other.
The 'bags' horse, considering our inventory systems, WOULD DEFINITELY BE WORTH IT lol.
As for the Stamina, which as far as I can tell only helps to prevent you from being knocked off your horse when a mob attacks you while you're riding, I don't think I'd get that one.
Stick with Imperial until you have a nice surplus then splurge.

Oberon✭✭✭✭Yes, for several reasons.- You're going to spend 12,250 gold to upgrade your horse 49 times regardless of what horse it is.
- Having a max speed horse is ridiculously useful.
- You might as well start at speed 10 as the base instead of speed 0.
- If you PvP, you will want the maximum possible speed for your horse.
- Except for more bag space, there isn't anything useful to spend your gold on in-game anyway.

Fleymark✭✭✭✭✭I have the fast one....light horse.. fully levelled to 50 for speed and I absolutely love having it available. And I'm not usually into mounts in games.
It's a lot of money, but there isn't all that much to spend money on. I got my character and bank slots to 100 first then saved for the horse. Had enough to buy it the day I hit 50, coincidentally.
I definitely think space upgrades are a higher priority and you may want to make a point of keeping enough cash on hand for a respec if needed, but I'm glad I invested in my horse, yes.
Thinking I might level up the bag space one at some point also.0 -

cabbageub17_ESO✭✭✭Haven't been able to afford a horse beyond my Imperial. Once you get another horse does it override and make irrelevant any bag space you buy on the Imperial. ✭✭✭I don't believe the inventory slots from the horses stack because you lose them when you swap out the horses. Otherwise people would have multiple pack horses on one character to have tons of bag space.
When you swap out to the fast horse, if you have full inventory, the game prompts you to clear your inventory of items equal to the number of slots given by your pack horse. At least that's how it worked before live. I'm guessing it's the same.
So if you purchased the expensive pack horse and kept your old horse, the pack horse would only give you ten more slots than your old horse, after feeding him to max level.Edited by Tabbycat on July 4, 2014 10:58PMFounder and Co-GM of The Psijic Order Guild (NA)

poodlemasterb16_ESO✭✭✭✭✭Plan on at least 25 stamina, you need that to keep you on your horse. My witch's Imperial is a 50 26 1 and she can ride through a quite few hits from similar level stuff.0

✭✭✭If we go for anything other than esthetics the question is 'Are the expensive horses worth it'. Is one inventory point worth 3000? Is 1% speed or stamina worth 3000 ? For me the answer is no. I did think that 30000 was worth it to get a black horse for my main though. ✭A fully appled-up light horse is very, very fast. It's just... ZOOOOOOOM! I don't regret one copper of the price.
As for getting knocked off in PvP, the key is not to sprint. A light horse at full stamina is sturdy enough to take one blow. A "stamina" horse is slow enough to be painful, unless you use that stamina to sprint... in which case, you'd be better off on my light brown apple-eater, with a full stamina bar.
Actually, the real key is to avoid riding alone in Cyrodil, unless you're in a group or using very indirect routes. If you play enough, you'll learn where gankers are likely to lie, and you know to avoide or sneak through those spots.Snit AD Sorc
