Is the Vile Laboratory quest vital for the final push to get Molag Bal?

Hi
I've been trying for a few days to do the Vile Laboratory quest, but it's still bugged.
I'm not sure if I should go ahead without finishing it.
When I went into the guild to continue, I noticed that there is an empty chair at the meeting, which I assume is because I haven't finished that quest line.
The other chairs are filled by the characters that I helped.
Will it make it tougher to finish if I don't finish that part of it before going into the chasm part of the game?
Or can I do part of that and come back and pick this up later before the final battle?
I'm still only level 48.

MKLS✭✭✭No - but you will want to do it later to get the achievement for collecting the lights.
To clarify you can do the final battle without going to the vile lab at all.Edited by MKLS on July 4, 2014 4:20PM0
