It's not about "complainers" and "supporters" ...

I've formed an impression while reading these forums that many will make an erroneous distinction .. that of "supporter's or fanboy's" and "complainer's or whiner's".

What is particularly irksome about this simplistic distinction is that many are under the impression that positive change doesn't happen without the "complainers" and equally annoying is the perspective that "supporter's" are blind to any game issues. This is rubbish.

Understand that being a supporter does not magically nerf a person's ability and disposition to be critical. The real distinction here is that a supporter will try to do this in a non incendiary way, using constructive and positive language, because they understand that this is the best method to get a message across.

Not everyone who complains is a whiner either .. it is possible to voice a complaint in a mature fashion without resorting to aggressive language trigger mechanisms to make other people feel small and deficient. When an individual uses aggressive and insulting language then everyone loses in the long run.

So .. the next time you feel the onset of forum rage, get up from your PC .. do some stretching, have a cup of tea and some dunking biscuits .. then formulate what you think needs improvement in a constructive way. Anything else is a waste of everone's time.

Toodle-doo and cheers,

Sometimes I like to whine about things. Sometimes I like to praise ZOS.

Does that make me a Whining Fanboi or a Supportive Complainer?

I have noticed a tendency that may explain this tendency. When someone posts a objection, disagreement or criticism in a calm and reasonable tone, they receive far fewer responses than if their remarks are, in at least some way, inflammatory. This is not always the case, but it is usually the case. I suspect this causes people to tend toward responding in a more aggressive fashion than they otherwise would.

I never have forum rage. Passive aggressive wins every time.
