It's bad enough looking through my local games stores and seeing ESO selling for £24.99, this close to release that's not good.
First we get that 'thing' where people who buy those limited edition books get a FREE months game time.
But now we have Zenimax giving away 3000 copies of ESO at Quakecon (not to mention that's also 3000 months worth of game time.
It seems to me (and maybe I'm being a little selfish) that the only people who are paying for ESO are those that are already paying for ESO ! ! !

You need to pay an entry fee unless you are from the press, I don't think anyone is nerd enough to go there because of a "free" ESO copy.
Its just marketing and 90% of the people who get these copies will either resell them on Ebay or just let them rot in the closet.4 -

They must have extra copies of the Explorer's Pack codes, otherwise it is supposed to be impossible for them to do that.

they can upgrade to imperial and get the imperial race, horse, rings, and mudcrab. but the explorer's pack is not available after launch, which is what gives you the ability to play any race in any faction.

It's entirely normal, for games the vast bulk of boxed sales take place in the first month or so, so retailers shifting boxes need to remove old stock from the shelves to make room for the next FoTM idiot gamers will flock to as their attention span is no longer able to cope with last month's FoTM game.It's bad enough looking through my local games stores and seeing ESO selling for £24.99, this close to release that's not good.

Insane for Bethesda/Zenimax to spend that much after what happened to SWTOR? Absolutely, but definitely possible, especially given the fact The Elder Scrolls Online will be a multiplatform game and not simply a PC exclusive like SWTOR.
The $200 million figure also makes Bethesda’s decision to attach a monthly subscription to TESO more understandable. Foolish, but understandable.
We’ll see how this potential financial disaster plays out beginning in April when The Elder Scrolls Online launches for PC.

Which is the proof how badly the game does in profit. No I am not that free to play in a month guy.
I only see, that many players stopped playing. More will stop playing due to unacceptable FPS drop issue.
I know they are trying, but still fail to deliver results...
And every race in any faction for new players only confirms how desperate they are.
Next step is imperial race for everyone (I am fine with that)
Another will probably be basic horse for 1g for everyone. (I would be fine with that).
PS: I have pre order CE, still I would support anything that would bring more players in.

Malpherian✭✭✭✭✭The reason wild star is selling so cheap is because it looks like something a 3 year old would play. The game has great ideas, but the bubbly/cartoony graphics (Not even pixar quality) just make it laughable at best.
Watching the trailers I get the feel I am watching "Armed and Dangerous" (For those of you that played that on the xbox you know what I mean). Game that made me laugh, but utterly ridiculous idea for an MMO.
If they had gone with ESO graphics, I'd probably be playing wildstar right now. (Though I of course would still own ESO).
Wildstar and many other games chose the cartoony look thse days because it's about 1/3 the price to develop it with those graphics then it is to produce something like "Tera" or ESO" with quality environment, characters and rendering of armors. I bought my cousin a copy of ESO less than a month ago at Walmart and it had an Explorer Pack code in it. Perhaps it was from release, but then I read on reddit that you can buy the codes at a website called g2a. In fact, it's still available:

Not quite, in most European countries 1000 million are 1 Milliard, 1000 Milliards are 1 billion (and it used to be the same in UK up to 1974). So 1 European billion are 1000 billion for us (UK,US,other places using 'American' system)
