Complaints about bots. Are we done with them? Have they moved on to Wildstar who just band a few thousand of them? Is anyone seeing them much anymore?

No. But I have a good spam filter for the bot chat spam. And it's true it's been a long time I crossed a bot in game:)

I think the market for bots has sort of dried up so they have moved on to more lucrative pastures.

I saw one last night in the Rift, but apart from that I haven't seen any in weeks. Good thing, they were getting annoying.

Still a few running around farming nodes, but I think they are getting report-sniped by players and then being thrown out of the game, hopefully for good.

They left when the majority of the player base left. No one left to sell their gold/mats to IRL.

I miss them. Finding the boss in a dungeon was a breeze then they were about.

I haven't seen many around, even in lower level areas. Of course, they still exist- resources don't just disappear right from under you without a cause. But it's not nearly as big of an issue as it was.

There's very little incentive to buy game gold; even if you want four or five different color horses you'll eventually get them. What else is there to buy with large amounts of game gold?

There isn't any marketplace in the game, just reasons to turn off zone chat.

I can't imagine even gold farmers who play games for a living being willing to powerlevel any character through VR content.

That in itself should be the biggest worry to the community. It guaranteed that they have not been removed due to 'clever dev coding' or we wouldn't be hearing the end of it.
No, it's more likely they bailed to the next big thing since nobody know's if this game is gonna even survive till it's 1st birthday let alone the know known pointless need for gold and pointless crafting system.

They left without writing a good bye thread? I was hoping some ballsy one would.

I've seen people complain about them in recent threads, but I haven't seen a bot since 1.1 came out.

That's more an side effect of the Phasing system. Harvest nodes don't phase like players. When you see a node disappear right under you, that's because somebody in a different phase in the area already nabbed it, but your phase hadn't yet registered the discrepancy.

Well slap me silly with a wet kipper.
I often wondered why that happened, just put it down to another bug. lol

That doesn't account for getting the message stating, 'Someone else is using this' before it disappears. While being able to target the player in the reticule by looking at the ground.

Thankfully this isn't a common occurance anymore. The obvious Chinese/Russian bots are operating on other games thankfully. Yet there are still a fair amount of Viper/Minon bots running amuck. Suppose players don't notice this because the bots are actually wearing normal looking gear and have readable names.

    Either way, less is better.

Gold farmers probably expected the game to become pretty big pretty fast. Once they realized that it wasn't happening, and that there's very little you need large amounts of gold for anyway, they kind of dried up.

Well, they banned a lot of them.

Then a lot of players left (my guesstimation is about 50% of population). Good thing is that on EU it usually means that better half stayed.

Also they added nice cooldown on character delete (wonder who suggested that  ).

Im not sure if they added some validity check for player movement, certainly not in PvP.

But it seems that fight with bots were rather successful in the end. Except that part where a lot of players left..

I think that it's a pretty obvious sign that the developers did a good job of weeding them out. I suppose that if I wanted to give them absolutely no credit for doing anything right I'd make believe that they all left the game voluntarily at the same time - so that the number of /zone gold spam advertisements went exactly to zero, and the number of farmer bots went exactly to zero.

If it was a demand / population thing you'd expect a more gradual change. But then I'm willing to give Zen some credit for doing some things right, unlike a lot of people on the forums.

One very good way to slow Gold farmers (not that ZoS hasn't been doing a great job imo) is for the company to sell an item on their own website that can be sold in game for gold. Trion, CCP and others do this to great effect. It's also a way to help smooth out the rough edges in any market. It cuts out the middle man (gold farmers) and gives all profits directly to the game company. This also allows those people with extra money to burn an outlet other than getting their PC/Game hacked buying it from shady companies.

It really doesn't matter what the item is, CCP sells a monthly game time "card", Trion sells a store credit voucher, etc. As long as ZoS gets the money instead of a gold farmer and players (who choose to) have a safe outlet to "purchase gold". Yes I know the argument against it, but simply put not everyone has the time to grind out gold and some people have plenty of extra money to throw away, so why not allow them an opportunity to further promote the game by giving them MORE money.
