After Level 15 Do You Use Second Weapon & Skills Set Or Stick With Just Your First Set?

I would stick to the first weapon but put something you might use in the future in the second slot.
- Lvl up the first just using it, killing things.
- Lvl up the seconf: When you deliver quests, switch for the second, finish the quest, then switch back just to keep them equaly leveled.
This way you can finish the build you started for the first weapon and have enough level in the second one in case your first build turn out to be not as effective as you thought it would be.Edited by rsiloliveiraub17_ESO on July 2, 2014 12:23PM0 -

Bow is my primary attack
But I always had 2H, Sword/Board, and Dual wield as #2, and would level them up against easy mobs...or switch to that weapon when getting a quest reward.

hk11✭✭✭✭I start at the beginning of the game putting a skill from whatever my secondary is on my primary bar and leave it until 15. By that time its reasonably close to my primary with no use whatsoever. At 15 I setup my second bar and switch to it when turning in quests.0

✭✭Got to have range and melee or if nothing else more slotted skills available.I generally have the same skills slotted, but I do add a second weapon, it helps a bit. My sorc has a sword and shield as back up incase mobs get too close, and my Templar has a bow as a second weapon (it was what I had when I needed a ranged weapon), and my DK has a fire staff as back up.
Of course they don't get used as much as the should.People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!

However, the poll option "Just one set keeps things simple and works great." doesn't really match the thread title. If I was a better player I'd have developed the second weapon skill set as well, and I have to say to new players and the OP - yes, you should develop at least two different weapons.
PS - Take a look at the Wykkid's Outfitter add-on. It allows you to select groups of skills for each scenario - for example, 1:1, 1:many, ranged, melee, ... it'll make your life a lot easier in the long run.Edited by WyndStryke on July 2, 2014 1:13PM0 -

Even with my characters who are not yet lvl 15, I keep a bow handy and switch out my skills accordingly if I know I'm going to get into a situation where ranged combat is better.---

I went ahead and voted 'blue' because if nothing else I want to use more then 6 active skills even with no interest in PvP or Veteran difficulties. (You say challenges...I say difficulties.)Some insightful info so far including a possible exploit depending on how you look at things.
If I had limited the question to levels 1 through 50 I don't think the discussion would be as much or as interesting.
If I had limited the poll to the one character you had the most 'fun' playing would the results be any different?
Might be very interesting to learn if _anyone_ really into Cyrodiil and PvP uses only one weapon set and one bar of skills? Seems very limiting and highly unlikely but easy to play and easy to die.
If interrupting is important do you have time see a spell winding up, do a teleport attack, and follow immediately with an interrupt and stick the interruption or not? As far as the interruption goes is any weapon just as effective or is the shield always the best choice--for interrupting a spell with a bash and for blocking?

reggielee✭✭✭✭Just one set keeps things simple and works great.to be honest, the pause when switching out has gotten me in trouble more often than just staying on one bar, so I tend to play with only one hotbar, and use my 2nd to load with leveling skills that im not using, then ...when I turn in quests or pick chests I switch out to that bar to gain experience.

Koshchei✭✭Got to have range and melee or if nothing else more slotted skills available.You'd be insane to not use both sets. While it's a pain in the butt to wait for 1.5sec to switch, you're limiting yourself to 50% of your potential utility to only use one set.
Besides, things have a way of going south fast in the game (unexpected adds, that tank you thought you saw in a pack not being a tank, the pack of skeletons that are inexplicably immune to silver bolts), and you sometimes need to improvise. The more abilities you can improvise with, the better.0 -

Exarch✭✭✭Just one set keeps things simple and works great.I have my Bow in the first slot and my Restoration staff in the second on my Cleric/Ranger Templar, I thought I'd be able to switch to staff and cast some quick HoTs then switch back, but in practice I find the weapon swapping to be too clunky and slow for that to work.
My Dragon Knight uses the second bar just for pre-combat buffs.0 -

Played a lot with just the bow today until I got into close combat in a quest. My skills are mixed up with my weapons now which isn't comfortable. I need to do far more work (strategy that I dislike) putting skills in the proper skill line and the proper position in that skill line. I get in to a battle that starts heating up and tend to start hitting 1-5 and 7 (my ultimate) until something happens...NOT GOOD.
It looks like I'm giving up on S&B but I still carry around a shield. I still haven't put any skills into any weapon except the bow. It seems like I should settle on S&B or DW and then put actives and passives into that weapon? I've been sitting on one skill point for a while now.
With the bow more often then not I'm kiting away using attacks and whatever poison arrow morphed into. <-- I know I need to get on top of what keys I hit when and why. Putting off this understanding is only making it harder.Edited by RatsnevE on July 6, 2014 6:26AM0 -

I've had times when I switch to a secondary set and end up using it more than my first, and I've had times where I never even bother setting up a secondary bar and just leave it at one.
