Not sure why, but I read that as "Hamsters and how much you hate them"

Oh yeah, Hamsters are awfull, especially when there are many players in one place....

Harvesters? They are not a problem with normal ballansed build. If you have 1.4k HP on VR, so you have done something wrong.

I hated them as well until I found out how to deal with these, the best thing about mobs like those, they teach you so much about your race and class, since you have to keep exploring how to do them. Other mobs after this becomes even easier great perk :)

Harvesters? Raid Mobs in the open world. No other mob in the entire game provides the same level of frustration, annoyance, and poor game design as this mob.

All they have to do to make them fun, outside of group dungeons? Remove ONE of their three overpowered abilities. That's it. Then they would be in the realm of a storm atronach for difficulty. Which, while challenging, is not ridiculous in terms of frustration.

You must live in the alternate universe where storm atronachs aren't the Megatron of mobs. Harvesters are more like Starscream.

Harvesters are very doable (unless there's more than 1). Storm atronachs are utterly impossible for me to solo. The ones in VR5 Reaper's March have my toon stuffed and hanging on their wall as a trophy somewhere.

I had to solo 50+ of those exact VR5 Storm Atronachs in Reaper's March for my Monster Hunter achievement. (along with the Frosts there, too)

    How?
    Simple.
Quick Siphon to start the fight (everyone can get this ability from Restoration Staff)
Then switch to your weapon of choice. Re-apply quick siphon if the fight goes longer than it lasts.
Use Degeneration (entropy morph, everyone can get this) if you find Quick Siphon isn't enough.
Use whatever you want to increase miss chance on you or the target. (Sparks or similar if you don't want to use a class ability, everyone can get this)
Interrupt them when they use their pbAOE. Yes, it's interruptable.
Then they're more or less like a big mammoth. Lots of hit points, not really that big of a deal. Might require using an ultimate or potion, it's true, but definitely doable.

I've tried interrupting Harvesters, and as far as I can tell, nothing they do can be interrupted. But I could be wrong. :)

Harvesters is the easiests elite mob to beat down in the entire game... but one need a couple of things at hand.

First don't get caught in its AOE as it can REALLY hurt.. if close range, walk behind it when it channel.

Second Have an AOE at hand... as soon as it puts you in the air and the bubbles spawn... be ready to take those ones down... killing the bubbles, kill the harvester... it is remarkable easy if spending a little time practising as well.

That is how you deal with them.. you can do it with any class in the game, but most important part is killing the bubbles.

Given the only time I see people die on VR Dolmens is if there are Harvesters, I'll stick with my opinion for now. ;)

I try to keep them stunned so I don't have to interrupt them. Not sure what class you play, but as a nightblade I'll Ambush them every few seconds and use my Soul Tether ultimate on them when it's up (a nice 4-5 second stun and I use the morph that gives me health recovery rather than my allies). I always forget to put my AoE on my bar so it's usually a race to burn them down while they're stunned from Soul Tether and then spam Killer's Blade.

NB can keep it stunned all the time until death even without soul tether.

Every CC I've ever tried on a Harvester has come back with "That creature is too powerful", so I figured interrupts were the only option, which don't seem to do anything.

I don't think I've ever seen a VR Dolmen / Boss / Plot type of Harvester CC-able, personally. (The really big ones!)

Interesting that NB's can stun them.

some quest harvesters cannot be stunned but it's not problem to take them down. It's like kiling daedroth - you should step behind it when she start to use ability.

I'm trying to restrain myself from joining the "NERF IT!" screaming crowd so I'll welcome your opinions and strategies:) Especially those of fellow sorcs.

My biggest problem is I get oneshot by them. I have 1400 health as vet 6, they do 1500+ damage as vet 5, I have like 0.5 second to dodge their Black Winter attack(often can't dodge because casting a spell or smth and don't move fast enough) and I just get oneshot. They also have rather high health and those **** fulheals so I have to put out high dps(ideally aoe to get rid of orbs), during which I inevitably miss a hit sooner or later.

The only way I found so far is to summon a SA on them and try to nuke them from the back - Black Winter doesn't reach there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't as it'll knock my SA down and turn to nuke me/last more than SA. But I don't think I've managed to defeat a single vet Harvester without an ultimate so far.

EDIT: Oh, and not to forget the stun. Stun+Black Winter is an exceptionally good combo.

Not as much as I hate healers who fully heal themselves, fully heal the other 3 enemies in the mob, and still attack with fireballs.

Just to insert my 2 cents as thread starter - I can solo Storm Atronachs=P

With ulti. Storm Atronach vs Storm Atronach is easy. Storm Atronach vs Harvester means I don't see Harvester behind it for a few seconds and it'll choose THIS EXACT MOMENT to use Black Winter and oneshoot me.

Without ulti...well, without ulti vet 9 SA in Malabal Tor took me about 7 tries to solo. 3 or 4 of those I got killed by very aggressive door there(The Storm's Call quest, door is bugged and mobs attack from behind the door) - the door would throw magic dagger at me for 1k damage, that was sweet and totally what I needed. Other tries were on me. Basically kept resummonning Clannfear, Conjured Ward and loads of rolling so he doesn't hit me. And Crystal Shards in between the rolls. IMHO, this is a bad joke for a supposedly soloable mob you HAVE to kill for some quests.

I'd still say I like it more than harvesters tho. SAs don't oneshoot me(and I have almost 2k health with food now. But harvesters apparently prepared for that - now their Black Winter does more damage, too).

My heavy armor sword and board temp actually kille harvesters pretty well.. lol at range.

The key is to get them into a relatively open area. Doesn't have to be big, but they have to be in the middle, so the balls all arrive at the same time. A lot often places they spawn, actually create uneven spawnage on the balls and while making it easier to kill them 1 at a time, makes it hard to AOE them... which is what I'm trying to do ( Note: sometimes placement can get you a Harvester that only spawns 3 or 2 balls, I have never managed this on purpose.

so if you have open space, all you need is blazing spear and a self heal (I use honor the dead.).

Move back and forth avoiding hand spell, while chucking blazing spear (it is a single target + AOE dot that randomly fires off extra passive damage.

when you get grabbed, get ready to toss blazing spear. once you get timing you can hit all 4 balls...and you are healed.

Heal on bar is for if you lag clip ground hands stuff, especially small spaces indoors and to make sure you have the HP to take a grab.

If you have extra mana /sta use a spell reflect for basic attacks. Keep mana and your time/focus for blazing spear as a priority though, because basic attacks can be blocked... and balls will heal you for free.

Overall it is more about where they are standing that makes the fight hard, and they show up in some awful places, don't hesitate to move them.

    ----

Stormies (single ones anyway) are easy for tanky templars. Learn their attack pattern and always be ready for the boom interupt (it is a very fast cast) and it is just a matter of wearing them down.

I hate these monsters with a passion. I'm not happy when I kill them because I find fighting them irritating, not fun. That being said, you have some pretty low health for V6, my lvl35 has way more health than that. If you don't wanna respec, you might wanna pick up barrier from Alliance War skill line for certain situations.
