Defeat the dark mane - yeah....no. Solo it is all but impossible and just another depressing step in my decision to play a templar. This comes after soloing the end game content for vet ebonheart (I won't spoil it but its pretty hard) on my sorc. I went back with some hope to put some levels on my templar...only to realize he is at the defeat dark mane place for a reason...he can't

I can see how playing a Templar would be hard for someone used to just facerolling on a FOTM Sorc. I can tell you that all of the game is possible on a Templar.

Did it last week VR10 with a Heavy armor Sword and shield Tank Templar. He is tricky. All bosses have patterns, if you can set up to defeat those patterns (or just avoid the attacks if possible), you will win.

I think Veteran content in the zones is almost impossible now that my Templar has gotten to VR-7. That is solo play of course. I see what other characters lay down for dps and the Templar never gets close to that. There is utility for a Templar but dps is not one of them. The talents that increase armor don't seem to help on defense much at all. Magic recovery is the worst in game.

The class is starting to be pigeonholed into healing if you want to be in a group. No one takes a Templar anymore for dps. Fighting 2 common level 7 mobs in Veteran content is a 50/50 contest. Fighting 3 is a loss unless our ultimate is up. Higher Veteran zones now all seem to be in groups of 2-3 mobs. I have ditched my Templar except farming at much lower levels for crafting materials. Templars need a whole bunch of love and hope this will be addressed soon.

If I can defeat Dark Mane on my Nightblade, it can be done with a Templar.

Well mate , i got to vr10 on my templar , it is possible to do the solo quests.

But , if you dont like the class enough to deal with its ... problems and obvious flaws , then just use the sorc or DK , both are much better anyway.

One of the bosses in AD , considering the way OP is speaking , he is doing it on high VR. It is a hard boss.

As a Templer i can say, try the Blinding Light-Morph: Blinding Flashes or the Sunshield-Morph: Heatshield. Both Skills are damn good and with the new 6s Base of Blinding Flashes this Skill helps to avoid a lot of Meleedamage.

I have tested them both and for me it works, i can play more tactical and avoid more Damage.

With the Heatshield you can use your Restorationstaff to Regenerate Magicka, this works very well. I have Fights which i used only Restoratonstaff with Heatshield and the Group or Boss is dead.

The Flashing Light-Morph: Blinding Light can help to avoid massive Damage to Groups or Bosses if they are not imune. Use this Spell against Mobs in your Level and do nothing, only see how much of them will hit you. You will be impressed. I have tested this Yesterday.

The new Puncturing Sweep is fine too, it helps to get some nice TP back.

The Templer needs some Help or Rework thats right but he has some nice Options you can use, to survive the Time to the next Templerpatch :D . I hope it helps.

I had difficulty with this boss fight as well. It took several attempts over a period of days (if I failed I would go do something else in the zone or log off and try again the next day) but finally defeated him at VR4 with my DK (Dual Wield, Heavy Armor). I succeeded by using the environment to my advantage. Try pulling him into the hallway entrance area and then burn him down before his cats can get to you.

If you can't beat the Vet. Content you are a bad player. Nothing more to say about it.

Some people just enjoy a challenge and prefer not to go with easy mode builds or classes, can't blame them for that.

I enjoy a challenge...you are talking to a templar that beat Malog Bol with 2H, but some things are ridiculous. It would be different if the fighters guild powers helped (shades are alive?) or if didn't crit for more than my hp (block runs out when your stam runs out..so yeah). I have tried the healing reso route but you can't heal and block. Best I did was binding jav, heavy attack at range...but it seemed he was over binding jab and refused to fall down after some point. Distance is great on hard bosses but when they have teleport strike and hit for all your hp when you are down...it's not fun.

My DK is all melee no CC, no range with most points in Stamina and Health. The spawns (shade pets or whatever) were the problem for me. When I fought him out in the main hall he would summon at least two of them in addition to using the teleport strike ability and every other trick in the book. When I flipped the script and forced him into the more enclosed hallway area it placed him farther away from the spawn points and made him fight on my terms. Only one pet was able to get to me and by then I had already beat him down to < 15% health. When I decided to use this tactic I was able to get the W on my very first attempt.

yea with one strict build, if you want to have a shot at it, and even then you need to keep your gear topped off. While other classes just steamroll the content with so so gear on.

It is a matter of keeping doing stuff, also additional food and potions is an option... everything has a pattern, some is tougher than others but first of all IT IS FAR from impossible.

Giving up is not the key to success, and all I can advice is to get back into the fight and deal with it.

I fought the Dark Mane back when he was still glitched and would respawn with full life every now and then. It wasn't VR content for me, but I remember that glitch being the biggest annoyance. As a Templar, I learned to pull him toward the entrance of the area, which kept the spawns away from me, and I just used my CC abilities to keep my Stamina and Magicka balanced, and to avoid hits. Took a while, and a bit of multitasking with the spawns now and then but it was doable. VR content? I have no idea.

I don't see the issues with Templars, I have no issues playing mine in a group or solo vet content....

I'd like there to be a milk drinking npc out there who is brutally difficult to fight, and wields a gigantic Axe cleaving through his foes like he were shearing wheat. Maybe he's a dairy farmer who had enough, and was tired of people mocking his product.

And after the July 7th upcoming changes, there may even be glitter on all the little paths - difficulties faced prior to that date will be diminished for all... ;o/
