Any Nord Templars out there?

NerfYou

It doesn't look like Nord is a recommended race for Templars. Has anyone decided to try one out anyways? Any thoughts on it?

New templars might be nords , since they changed the nord passives.

My templar is quite old , so nops , mine is a breton.

There's no real... race recommendation for any class. Not IMO anyway. Just pick what race you want to pick. I mean if you're going by passives, only Argonians and MAYBE Bretons have any useful passive for healing/heavy magicka builds. I'm not saying Templars have to be healers, but that's basically what the class skills are all about. If you're using weapon skills for your DPS, then it's the same across the board, really. I have a Khajiit sword and board Templar and rarely had problems before VR ranks (except this one quest boss in Deshaan that made me want to kick puppies a little). In VR ranks as long as I pull 1-2 mobs, I'm still pretty fine. Of course... two sometimes act like five... but that's a different discussion.

I'm no expert, but here's what I have experienced.

Due to the fact I am of Scottish and Norwegian origins, I felt obligated to roll a Nord. And, Templar was the only class I hadn’t leveled yet, so I have a Nord Templar about to turn VR3 now.

I have to say, having all 4 classes in VR, I think I have had the easiest time with my Templar. I run her 5 heavy, 2 light. 2 handed and bow. She can push and shove stuff around better than my other toons, and she’s rather resilient. Build is a 50/50 mix of stamina and magicka abilities.

I imagine the biggest reason people say not to use Nords is due to the fact Nords don’t have any kind of magicka or stamina regen passives or boosts. They are pure health, and now reduce incoming damage (used to improve armor rating). To compensate I use magicka and stamina cost reduction apparel. I rarely run out of mag/stam as I split between the types of attacks. And, to my surprise, that resistance to frost is nice in some situations. There are more cryomancers running around out there than you’d realize. Kind of nice having one type of caster you don’t have to be too worried about right away vs. packs of 3.

I don’t feel I am having the problems that others are reporting…. I think I just got real lucky that the way I wanted to play her has worked really well. I would suggest getting familiar with the class abilities, decide how you want to play, and role… Then look over the racial passives and see which you think would be the best for you and what you want to do.

On paper, if you're looking to go a stamina build Templar, I'd suggest Redguard. Magicka build, Breton. A guy in my guild has an Argonian Templar who's apparently a real beast to.... If you're looking to play a healer, you'll want all the magicka help you can get, so probably a Breton would be best for that.

Altmer have nice Magicka bonuses like Bretons, however their other passives boost fire/frost/shock... so, if you're looking to go desto staff, then Altmer. Bretons have reduced spell cost, Altmer have magicka recovery boost in combat... both have total magicka % boost.

I can’t speak on PvP as I rarely ever do it.

But, I love my Nord Templar. She might even be my new main over my Wood Elf NB, but the jury is still out on that one.

Actually, this guy's advice is much better than mine. Play which ever one you really want to run around as. you're theoretically going to be looking at this thing for over 50 levels, make sure it's something that keeps your interest.

And the other thing to add to my wall of theory-craft, as this guy pointed out, these racial passives really aren't going to make or break you. They're mostly just nice perks.

I have one, but she's level 8 until I finish leveling my main. I like the idea of a character being drawn to or having an affinity for something that their race generally rejects. Makes for fun RP, story building, and personal immersion. Anyway, she's my only EP character and will be making the journey through VR content at some point.

Mine is also a Khajiit, I have no real issues even as a heavy healer/magicka build.

I know I'm a little late in replying, but I did want to take a moment to thank everyone for replying. I did end up making a Nord Templar and have had fun toying around with the so far!
