Should players be able to repair gear?

Yes, please yes... the first time I try a veteran dungeon, I just had my gear repaired to 100%. I die once and all my gear is at 95% and my chestpiece is at 85%...

Seriously, the gear breaks way too fast, and it breaks even when you don't die. When I do a quest, I have to spend the entire quest reward on repairs everytime...

Not to mention having to leave dungeons and travel to a town to repair before coming back.

And please don't tell me to get repair kits... I don't think that filling my inventory with super-expensive repair kits that can only repair one piece is the solution.

We know players can craft gear, but without expensive repair kits they can't repair it. The alternative is of course to pay a vendor to repair it, or don't bother repairing it at all. So why can our characters construct gear, but they're not able to repair it? Doesn't pass the common-sense test.

We should be able to Repair items with the right crafting profession: it would take NO TIME to put in the game a new set of ''passive'' skills that make u able to repair lv. 10-20, 30-40, VR...
And if you want more gold sink just offer the 'skill teacher' where a passive to repair gear is 'learned' for a price. This would include a passive to charge enchantments too. Not quite sure why armor enchantments fall under 'repair' or a new 'glyph' if not locked while weapon enchantments fall under 'charging' or a new 'glyph'?

Has the terminology for whether and armor or weapon enchantment be changed-out to a different enchantment been changed? It seems like it use to use an icon "lock" symbol but now it seems to spell it out that an enchantment cannot be changed? This may only be pertinent to me picking up self-found items. Self-found glyphs are inferior to items found already enchanted and I don't craft them.

If I made the gear, I should be able to fix it for less than the cost to make it.

Assuming I have the skills to make comparable in the first place:
If it's battlefield pick-up gear, I should be able to fix it for less than it costs to replace, but probably more than stuff I crafted.

Either way, it should cost me less to fix than it costs the grocer to fix, and that includes the mats I have to use during repair.

If I don't have the crafts XP skills, and this includes having the requisite number of researched traits to craft similar in the first place, then I have to take it to the guy who makes my sandwiches to get it fixed.

    Edit: speeling.

The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

Repair kits are pretty much the same as the repair hammers from Oblivion and Morrowind. You do repair the weapons (with the repair kit) It's not any different than using repair hammer, though it is more expensive in ESO. What I would support is cheaper repair kits. Also it can be hard to find certain materials, and I would still rather have an NPC repair my gear.

    Okay, that's reasonable.

Repair kits should be a % chance to succeed or fail based on the quality (price of the kit) and one's smithing skill (for metal weapons/armor), woodworking skill, and so on.

This way repair kits could be cheaper 10-50 gold for example.
