[Templar] Vampire's Bane - what's the point?

So, vampire's bane advertises itself as doing more damage over time, however the DoT duration is also longer than it's other morph reflective light.

If you take the total damage output of each morphs and divide it by their duration the damage per second is almost identical.

Reflective light can potentiall hit three targets where vampire's bane is a single target spell so what's the point of choosing vampire's bane over reflective light?

Do people choose it due to the increased snare duration so that they don't have to reapply it as often?

Is that good enough to outweight the fact that with reflective light you can put a DoT + snare on three people and potentially get much better ultimate building?

What's the point of vampire's bane - what am I missing?

Reflective light only puts a DOT on the primary target, no? The two secondary targets only get hit by the initial damage and snare. At least that's how i understand it.

What sharee says. If fighting 3 mobs you can tag all 3 to get DOTS on them and you get an an additional DD hit each time. Vampires Bane ticks longer and harder for a single target. Reflective light is better imho, particularly for vet content levelling as it snares all 3 mobs.

From a PVP perspective, Spamming Vampires Bane is a great way to make vampires run

The damage per second difference might not be huge but the total damage output from the DoT is double compared to Reflective Light. So it deals far damage per cost unit (magicka).

Ultimately the decision is whether you intend to use it as a single target or multi-target ability. I prefer it on my 1v1 bar and it's one of the best DoTs out there.

I personally don't like reflective light, I find it very situational.

Edit: I use it in PvP

VB for single target while RL is for packs up to 3.

It just depends of your choices and playing style.
