A quick fix for many inventory issues ...

They are called 'vanity' items, in my example here. These are items which have no practical impact on gameplay. Items entirely added for the characters amusement.

Vanity items, with one small change, would take up no inventory space. They would still be in your inventory, but like quest items, would not count towards you final total.

Vanity items include:
Pets
Costumes
Trophies
Possible future additions of tabards, cloaks, etc.
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

agree, also should allow managing bank space of all chars on one screen, rather than log out and log in with different char.

This is actually not a bad idea. I've got a character just for the storage of these items. That would free up an inventory so that character could actually be used for some play time.

I agree, but if you actively craft, your inventory can grow while you wait days sometimes for crafting research to complete.

That could help considerably. I also don't know why they don't allow you to switch between bank, guild bank, and the store options, without forcing you to exit the dialogue and start it up again. A simple menu system or tab system would do it. The current system forces unnecessary load requests and NPC dialogue, in my opinion.

It would be nice to have a general shared bank, with tabs like Rift has.

Personally, I don't. I only save blacksmithing, woodworking and clothier crafting mats (due to the shared motiff design, it's the most efficient). My bank holds backup materials, style materials, etc, and my player character runs around with materials native to my current zone and research gear (of which I'm almost done researching clothier and woodworking, so very little left to hold onto).

I donate all my alchemy, food and enchanting materials directly into my primary guilds bank, for others to use. Those are simply too inventory heavy for my preference.

I've got 140 bank slots open, and 150 character slots open on my main, and only one banking alt, who holds stacks of items taken out of the bank, as well as trophies, costumes and pets.

As of right now, this works.

But I still feel that my character isn't done growing. He's still expanding. If they add more, or I want to do more, what will I do then?

Eventually, new options will have to open, or we'll be stuck alting it up (something I don't mind, but many, many others loathe).

Absolutely - your fix has been suggested before.

    IMHO this is a no-brainer.

I would add maps to your list.

I hear you and I feel your pain. Maybe we need to form a support group. I spent the afternoon trying to sort through various alts logging in and out just trying to get stuff where it needed to be. Maps definitely need to be in the "stuff I don't wanted counted" column. Why not just designate junk as a non-counting column? That's where I dump costumes and research items and maps.
Scura di Notte - Altmer Nightblade (gear)
Lalin del Sombra - Bosmer Sorcerer (alchemy/enchanting)
    Angevin Sarkany - Bosmer Dragonknight
Alkemene Velothi - Dunmer Warden (Morrowind)
Sanna yos'Phalen - Altmer Sorcerer (provisioning)
    Cosima di Mattina -Altmer Sorcerer
    Naria Andrano - Dunmer Templar
Luca della Serata - Redguard Templar

RPG's naturally lend themselves to OCD mentalities.

To then punish that mentality by not preventing us to gather everything, is cruelty.

I refuse to make alts just for their inventory space. The fact that I even have to consider this as an option tells me something is wrong with the inventory.

I fixed this problem for myself long ago.

Pets: are for starry eyed children to play with. I destroyed them.
Costumes: are like toilet paper...use it and lose it. I burned them.
Trophies: are for people who live in the past. I left them in my dust.
