Bah...I'm Giving Up !

Before the Mods move in this is not a quitting thread (I'm not quitting) :p
I am however not playing the game while it's in its current state !

Craglorn is a dead zone, literally. Yesterday (a weekend, prime time day) was rubbish there. Pretty much impossible to get a group, chat was almost non existent, anomalies are still a joke since the nerf ! (they need to be set back to how they were before)
VR zones... don't make me laugh ! I was in a VR9 zone and I can honestly say I saw about 4 people in nearly 5 hours. Tried a couple of times to engage in conversation but nothing. (not saying these peeps were bots, they weren't but they certainly weren't friendly either) Don't know if it was a stealth buff or a bug, but as a couple of threads have pointed out VR mobs are doing more damage than before the patch. Players (the few there are) are spending more time running back to repair and/or dying than they are enjoying the game !
Cyrodiil , well I got just 3 letters to sum up that area... FPS ! ! ! (say no more)

I made a quip in some other post about being on the forums is more enjoyable than playing the game. looking back at the comment... it's sadly true ! I'm having more fun/interaction with other players here than I was in the game (and for that to be true there is something definitely, seriously wrong)

I can't even say that I'm eagerly awaiting Monday's fix. Honestly.. my main thought about Monday is "What else are they going to break?"

I'm not normally a quitter, but I have to admit that thought is bouncing round in my head. When Blizzard, Trion, CCP said they were going to fix things, I never found myself doubting that. I don't have that confidence in Zenimax !
Honestly... I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel. Like I said I'm not ready to quit yet. I'd still consider renewing my sub (maybe reduced from a 90 day to a 30 day though) Or maybe it's just time to take a break?

Ah well, that's my thoughts thrown out there. (feel free to Rage, Flame or Comment)

Just realised (not that I'd actually forgotten) I have next week off work. Think this may be the first time I have time off and have zero plans to play my 'current' MMO.

Looking back over the last few weeks I've had just as much fun doing stuff like-

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/115133/battle-dungeons-new-group-v-group-pve-instances#latest

    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/96773/dark-anchor-improvement#latest

Maybe its time to dust off 'Game Maker' and 'Unity 3D' even 'Blender' get myself back into some game/level design. Something constructive to keep my mind active for a week....lol

I can only say this to ZOS and to you,

    You reap what you sow.

ZOS sow a game in early beta stage, riddled with gamebreaking bugs and some huge exploits, some identified but not fixed during testing(i still know of 10 exploits 80% of the playerbase has still no knowledge of,but they will at some point)

You reap, people running away in droves, ammount of negative posts and threads growing by the day on this and all ESO related forums.

And they deserve every last one of them.

I have stopped playing this as my main game, since I bought 6 months I am in hopes that in the next couple of months things will improve and people will start playing the game. But I have not seen such issues since playing Hellgate London, which was a game that could have potentially been grate, but got released to early because the publisher pushed it out the door.

We can't live in a lets get it out the door, and make money and fix the bugs. The biggest issues is the beta, never went further than a few beginner zones. So the later content never got tested. Sorry, you loose.

    F2P here we come.

Seems like the less employees game has, the better job it does lol..

    Trion - 200 employees
    Zenimax Online - 250 employees
    Blizzard Entertainment - 4700 employees

I'll agree with you only about Trion.

Blizzard and I go way back, and I for one know very well WoW is far from being a polished game, never was and never will be. (Looking at you bugged Wrath quests, even though it's been 5 years since then)
If I take out their horrible graphics art, I can begin with their PvP, it's one of the worst in the whole genre, they promised fixing and balancing it for 10 years straight (Yep empty promises, the last expansion had worst balance since the vanilla days).
But fine if I take PvP out of that game as well, all we have left is PvE and that is only one thing - Raids.
Exploration is non-existent, quest and profession system is crappy at best. There are only 2 things Blizzard does well Marketing and Raid System, all other things are average or beyond average.

ESO might not be all I wanted it to be, most of the time I feel like there are many things still missing from the game. But I can't get past the fact how rich detailed worlds are, they feel incredibly alive and immersive, something I never experienced in any other MMO..

I think people thought they would get whole Tamriel since Day 1, I think they don't understand it takes 10 Skyrim games to get that done, it's that huge. Perhaps in the future we will get all that, as for now I'm very happy which direction this game is heading too.

Last Time I check WoW only had class balance issues, I've played since BC and can gladly say it was nearly bug free they fixed their bugs in record time. I dont know what WoW you played but they kep their game clean while Zos just *** up more stuff when they set out to fix. This game is heading somewhere and it is not a good place.

Agreed, WoW's biggest issue was class balance (and a lot of that stemmed from Duels) One group was never happy and Blizzard always sided with whoever moaned the loudest.
However bug wise, yes they had issues (like any MMO) but as Clayton said they fixed them very quickly.
Trion, feck knows how they managed it but RIFT was the least buggy MMO I've played.

@Despair9 you seem to remember a WoW I have never played? (I played from just before BC to just after Cataclysm.

ESO is far from alive and immersive (but its getting there slowly) Once we get a global AH for a dynamic economy, Group/open world dynamic events (GW2 type events) and Anchors/Dark Fissures are more like the events in RIFT, then ESO will start to become a leader in the MMO genre !

I believe (thinking back) somebody also made a suggestion for 'Group v Group' time trial Dungeons, that sounded like a great idea ! (something else for immersion/player interaction)

Agreed. MMOs usually are slowest in the Summer, it's been suggested that one or two gamers venture out of their basements and into the sunlight although I personally think there must be some other explanation.

I wholeheartedly agree that all those points would make an enormous difference, especially the first one. MMOs depend on a thriving economy that applies across the community, and this one is so fragmented that it is effectively broken. Even if the original concept of trading through multiple guilds was the correct one, which in my view it was not, those guilds are now reporting such declining attendance that the system clearly cannot be working as intended.

Game breaking? No. There are bugs but they don't break the game lol. I play the weakest class in the game and do just fine in pve vr6-10. Adapt.

This is a learn to adapt issue.

As for the lag in cyrodil..stop playing on wabbajack its an overpopulated zerg fest.

I agree, this whole game is a learn to adapt issue which is why so many prone can't handle it! it's not like the mmos out there right now so it shocked everyone's system and they ran. Which is sad really cause this game is fantastic.

    Join a guild.

If you rely on being able to quickly form pickup groups for endgame content, most games will disappoint. WOW is the only game I know of where you can rely on mechanic to force-form a group, which will then silently blast through watered-down content like so many bots. In most games, you have to make an effort to form persistent social connections.

So join a guild, a good one. Or several. That's the key to most endgame issues in MMO's.

It's not about adapting, it's about being bored with the lazy hand-waving excuse to not deliver new content and the tedium of grinding super-powered trash mobs. Give us a real story and real enemies with a range of difficulties and we're in. Just waving your hand and saying 'a wizard did it' does not make recycled content either good or make sense and just using a multiplier on trash mob abilities does not create an interesting challenge.

For every guy like this who sees the sky falling, there are 50 players *playing* who are thoroughly enjoying the experience. They don't stop to post "this game is great", they just play.

My wife and I left out of frustration earlier on so I know the feeling, but we came back and realized what we were missing. There are still annoying problems, but the positives vastly outweigh (for us) any negatives. The game is great and full of promising potential. I still yell at my screen from time to time lol, but there is a reason we both keep coming back.

As for population, one thing you will notice is that players gravitate to efficient hubs to call home. For the AD, the town of rawl'kha in Reaper's March is always fantastically crowded because it is the best town in the game for quick access to way shrine, bank , crafting stations, merchants, etc. The bank is ALWAYS overpopulated. The gamer population is there, they are just more efficient than you realize.
