They have been mum about VR only saying they have heard the uproar and will be looking into it.

And by looking into they mean discussing it with the top end game guilds on the leaderboards.

    What they need to fix?
    • PC EU. Ebonheart Pact. CP 1k+
    • YouTube: All ESO disguises (2014)
    • EU players are humans too! We want our maintenances in the least pop time (at deep night) and not lasted for several hours!
    • Animation canceR - is true PvP cancer! When you can't see which actions your opponent do - you can't react properly on them!

VR is not broken. It's working as intended. But the design and gameplay drives too many players away.

All though based on assumptions, I'm pretty sure they still will do many changes because a large part of the player base dislike the steep raise in difficulty between 1-50 and VR, especially trash. Also the rewards will be looked into.

Go to the solo dungeon with the highest level mobs in Coldharbour. Stand by the entrance. It's literally flooding with players zoning in an out. Then go to the VR1 solo dungeon closest to where you start off in a VR1 zone. Sometimes, you have to wait 20-30 minutes before you see a player. This escalates in higher VR zones. This is what my asumptions are based on.

VR is just so tedious to get through. I don't think it would be nearly as bad if they hadn't taken away attributes. At least then we would be more on par with the mobs we are fighting.

Someone said at one point that all your attributes went up when you leveled in VR.. not mine.. and I have been watching and keeping track to make sure. The only changes in states I get are from making a new set of armour.

I also noticed with this new patch, that certain enemies have a new buff where they can't be thrown off balance, making mobs twice as hard to deal with now, especially if you are a vamp trying to take out the fire mage first, or trying to take out the damn healer with a 1 sec full up heal time.

As a compromise, I wish they would let us buy a 1 for 1 attribute points for any skill points that we have from gathering the shards and what not. It would at least give me something more to work towards since there are really no additional skills I want to give my character. That or they need to increase our skills so we can upgrade them to a higher level.

I like the lore from being able to go through the other alliances, but I hate the tediousness of the VR levels. It gets less and less fun, but sadly I am a little OCD on the completing things.
Far too many characters to list any more.

They'll probably take too long, while I personally don't think it all that bad (except some end zone bosses like Vox) it's driving people away which isn't a good thing.

Well, before the last patch complaints were that it was too hard. So they gave mobs CC immunity. Can only guess what's going to happen next.

What changes? Make VR easier? HELL NO make it more worth to gain it and HELL make it double so hard!
  • dido9880ub17_ESO
I really do not understand why people are struggling so much with VR content. I agree that the jump in difficulty is quite a shock at first, but once you get used to having to dodge or block certain attacks from mobs it really is not so difficult that it is impossible to solo.

It might have been better if they made some of the coldharbor content a little more difficult to get people used to the increased difficulty, but I am not really sure it would have made that much of a difference.

You just have to get used to not being able to take certain attacks, and have to dodge or block them.

My complaint is not the difficulty... It's the contrived storyline where you are going to enemy factions... Doing their newb quests .. Killing your own people in the process... It's total rubbish.
  • dido9880ub17_ESO
Eh I liked the storyline. I thought it was explained well that you were going to experience the other faction from their perspective.

It was not explained as you going there as someone from your original faction, and so I thought that it worked just fine.

I also really enjoyed the fact that I could get to experience all of the quests while still being able to stay in my chosen faction rather than having to create characters in all of the factions to see the storylines of the quests.

That's great.. And being able to do it all on one character does appeal to some players like you. However, others like myself want to do it on an alt and/or are not convinced with the alternate reality explanation.

I found VR a little tedious at first, but I feel like it really pushes you to understand your class and skills. Your improvement comes more from getting better at managing yourself than just upping your numbers.

I've really started to enjoy vet now that I've started to get a better handle on my class and playstyle. It's a good challenge. What I wouldn't mind is if they did offer some sort of reward, because as of now the only thing I look forward to moving along is the opportunity to craft new gear from one VR to the next.

Perhaps they could work on making the rewards a little better, and adding a repetitve gain to do the delves and dolmens more than once(other than helping guildies of course), but other than that my experience with the VR zone content has been pretty positive.

I found the difficulty and pace(progression) pretty spot on to be honest.

The way I look at it is VR content is there to prepare you for end game pvp, hence why the mobs are harder to kill.

you got a Point. I see another Problem, if they reduce the diff. in the V - Areas... the next step is to do the same with the V-Dungeons and then the Trials.

Add more Trails (maybe dynamic ones), Sets and Horses.
Add a AA-like-System so the People can improve there chars.
And Keep the Hands of the V-Area!

A proper progression raid would also be nice; but all good things come to those who wait

I've got plenty of time and am enjoying the journey.

My big problem with vr content is that healing skills and armor MIT don't seem to scale well enuff... We need some of the resto staff skills made % based so they scale better. And heavy armor needs to mitagate damage better.. Also they need to up the amount of notice on any ability that can do more then 2k dmg and make sure it has a red ring... It really sucks getting death touched with no notice by some world bosses

So I had to be out during the launch, played a lot during the beta - but anyway. Riddle me this - what is there to do at VR12? I ask this genuinely, as I have been out of pocket.

If the answer is "not much", then, what matters if VR ranks are slow? I'm not tryin to troll here, genuine question.

That is very accurate. ZOS has not come out and stated their thoughts on VR either way. I had previously read the link the other guy posted, and though Jessica does acknowledge VR needs attention, she didn't specify either way. For all we know these zones could be getting twice as hard.

There is probably a new VR thread started every other day. And everyone runs in and starts shooting the mouth off to support what they think VR "Should" be only to support what they want it to be. Then the arguments and insults just explode.

This who VR debate is split between two sides. The casuals and the hard-cores. And just because someone is a casual, doesn't mean they are bad. And just because someone is hard-core, doesn't mean they are an elitist either.

I consider myself an educated casual. I care about learning my class and the mechanics, and look to be more knowledgeable about the game itself overall. But I do not enjoy slamming my head against trash mobs in zones that are essentially basic leveling. I do not enjoy looking at 3 skeevers and being afraid if I can take the incoming damage, which not always they case.

Some people out there have brutal lives, and some people have brutal careers. Mine happens to include a lot of death and suffering. I play this game because I like to come here and cracking some skellie over the head with a 2-hander is exceedingly entertaining. Though I could do that all day in a starter island to my black little heart's content, I also have an addiction to content progression. But I don't enjoy standing there looking at 3 VR10 anythings wondering how much this is going to hurt. And if one of them is a healer, I should not feel the need to pop a Xanny.

It's perfectly ok to like that kind of challenge. And it's also ok to not want to stress out over 3 skeevers. But what people fail to understand in these forums is that they are NOT entitled to shove their opinions in people's faces about why others play any game. I've seen more people throw that "should" word around as though they won last year's effin Game Dev of the Year award.

And the problem is, with any content, developers cannot completely cater to any one side. If they made VR a faceroll, or turned it into raid quality, 1/2 the population will leave. An eventually, it's going to be real easy to get Emperor when you're the only one standing in Cyrodiil.

I personally do not like VR the way it is right now. I am not sure if it's that the mobs hit a little too hard, or that armor needs to be more resistant... I'm not a numbers guy, I honestly don't know but wish I had an answer. But as someone who wants to see VR become a little... easier... I also fully support the hard-core players getting the challenging content they are here for. I just don't think VR is the place for that.

Now I gotta cut myself off, this is turning into a dissertation for my PhD. The short answer is, I really hope the devs can come up with a good balance of content difficulty to cater to both sides, as I would really love to see this game thrive and grow.

True and i'm giving them my money already. But if the limits of the ambition for ESO is to be 'minor league niche MMO' limping along to closure or FTP then by all means full steam ahead and damn the torpedoes.
