Attacking VR12s..

I attacked a VR 12 from stealth last night, I'm a stamina based NB (Yes I know). Unless I crit on each hit I cannot kill them even with the first hit from stealth.

Ambush doesn't stun them, dmg is too low.

It appears I will need to grind from VR4 to VR12 to compete. Good that the Craglorn anomalies make the game so much more difficult for anyone who didn't do it.

It all depends, I have been fragged at V8 by level 27's and easily nuked V12's when I find them.

If anything it shows what happens when an endgame geared spec'd character played in the right hands faces a V4.

Don't take that as an insult to you OP, its a compliment to the V12.

The difference in gear is quite huge. Also vr12 is probably more skilled. He has either had more time to spend in cyrodil or actually grinded through the trials of VR content

since v1 as a templar i have been killing anyclass v12 if i can find one alone and i catch them off gaurd they're dead meat

1. gap close with stampede(guaranteed crit+immobilize 3 sec's)
2. biting jabs
3. Binding javelin(3 second knockdown)
4. spam biting jabs
5. rarely, with only 9 points into mana(at veteran rank), have i run out of mana from this rotation and they are still standing and had to have finished them off with a couple 2h sword swings

this is possible because at the end of a turn of biting jabs the opponent is recovering balance, not considered CC so there is no shaking out of it, which allows you to have enough time to hit them again. by the time you finish the 3rd step half their life is gone

1. if they are somehow able to get some distance from you because the biting jabs pushes them away from you and you dont anticipate this then rinse and repeat from step 1

also

1. i noticed some people are adapt at rolling away when my stamped is incoming- that is fine because as a templar i put 30 points into stamina and my stampede attempts outlast their dodge attempts. normally i dont have to worry about this when i catch them off gaurd.

i know the OP is a NB. just wanted to make it clear that v1 can take down v12 fairly easy given the optimal circumstances.

I have lost to lower levels twice, but that was due to crystal shards and standard/talons and they were a Max of 5 levels lower. This game is heavily dependent on level of your character.

I would be interested to hear from an lower level nb who is able to take down a vr12, their skills, gear etc. With my build I don't it's achievable,I just don't have the DMG or defence to do it.

Your biggest problem would be stamina concentration. Im a vr6 NB now, but when i was vr1 i could still kill vr12s, i was running around 1.6k stamina and 1.8-1.9k magicka. Pretty glass cannon but yeh thats the way i wanted to play so i did. Main source of power came from crits. Running 55% wep crit and 40-45% spell crit. Makes quick work of VR12s especially when they are on horseback. Just get the right rotation and skill set and you can easily pwn vr12s. They arent as hard as you may think.

My skill set up is:
1. Hidden Blade (DW skill line)
2. Concealed Weapon
3. Ambush
4. Inner Light
5. Dark Cloak
ULT: Incapacitating Strike

Bow Bar runs:
1. Camouflaged Hunter
2. Swallow Soul
3. Lethal Arrow
4. Piercing Mark
5. Dark Cloak
ULT: Incapacitating Strike (will change it to flawless dawnbreaker when i get it)

Basically my rotation is:
For people on horses:
Ambush from behind (600-750) depending on the char
Hidden Blade x2
Concealed Weapon + Light attack weave

They are usually dead by the end of the first conc. wep weave. depending on amount of crits.

For people on foot:
I run behind them and cloak + conc. wep into them (you can get 750+ easy on anyone)
Conc. Wep + light attack weave
If they break out of the stun, look to block + conc. wep and if you run out of magicka, block + hidden blade.

Thats pretty much it really. Consistenly get 400+ conc. wep crits, 350+ hidden blade crits and ulti recharges super quick and does a awesome stun which saves your ass alot.

As for bow:
camo hunter -> lethal arrow from stealth
usually lethal will hit 1k+ and if they are vamp/WW, i get a 500-600 proc from camo hunter on that snipe so i can hit for 1.5k+ depending on the char. and then i just spam swallow soul with light attacks. If they heal out of it, i switch to DW rotation.

As for gear
3x armour slot - stygian
2x daggers - stygian
4x armour slot - death's wind
bow - death's wind
3x jewelery - warlock

So when i DW, i get the full stygian set and the 3 piece death's wind
and when i use bow, i get the full death's wind and the 3 piece stygian.

I think you have to be a glass cannon for an nb. How did you have 55/45 crit? I have 40/20.

I'm not touching light armour and a staff.

You're complaining you are not 2-3 shotting vr 12s on your vr 4 nb? Lol

no wonder nbs complain about everything when something doesnt do it for them.
Yes vr 12 NBs can 2 shot other vr 12s because of their insane opening burst atm, but it does not mean its possible for a vr 4, or even intended to be possible (2 shotting is simply not fair).

Just dodge cloak and sneak if the fight doesnt go in your favor, and you will be fine and 2 shot another vr 4 instead.

No I'm complaining that I cannot kill vr12s. That 2 shot thing is a straw man.

If a mark target, snipe, heavy attack poison arrow they MAY get to half if I crit 2 or 3. In turn they will 2 or 3 shot me.

It's not as if most vr12 s got there without the anomalies so it wasn't really earned was it?

thats about ~50% right there and then i have home camp. bonus of 8% im pretty sure

Spell Crit
6 pressure points
~6 mundus
18 atm but 20% from inner light
so thats 30% + 8 from home camp = 38% + im missing stygian dagger atm so im using a crit dagger so thats another 2.5% so thats 40.5%

if you see a really tough opponent you can always use a spell crit/power pot and make it near insta crit xD

i took out a VR12 sorcerer with my VR1 NB archer in a 1v1. I was in a siege, and one of my Vr12 buddies got jumped by this VR12 sorcerer and fled and hid somewhere. the enemy VR12 did not notice me(I was stealthed) and she turned to go back to her team. I stealth shot her, and it did some good damage, and stunned her. I then used venom arrow, and strifed her, and attacked her some more; instead of spamming those accursed self heals like almost all Vr12s seem to do, she tried to run. I then kept on putting arrows in her back, and finished her off with impale. it was glorious. f*** LA staff builds. lol(that was the build she had btw). and I started battle with her when she was at full health, she was not on her last 40% or something like that. my ally that ran did not even fight back, she just ran.

At VR <12, I was running crafted greens, with a blue weapon and blue glyphs.

Now, everything is legendary, down to the glyphs. After hitting the cap, I finally felt comfortable using that ungodly amount of upgrade materials. And that's the big difference.

You'll get there. In the meantime, hoard your dreugh wax. You'll need a lot of them

I have mixed success attacking v12's (as a v4, recently v5). Some i can take out like an assassin should.

Some however feel like a brick wall. I attacked a v12 DK last night. And don't get me wrong, i don't really mind losing to a player that is playing better than me. But this one? He just held block, and spammed talons. Eff that
