Auction House Debate...

I have been hearing a lot lately that some people are screaming for an Auction House. I can't help but think that this would be detrimental to the game, but with crafting being the best way to get your items might also help some... understand that I can't list all the possible options here so I have also added 'other'.

I was for a global AH, but have since reconsidered for various reason. The main reason being: it would not be difficult for a few wealthy players to dominate and monopolize it. I've already experienced this on a much smaller scale, and it has remained contained because there is no global AH.

Perhaps zone AHs (an AH in each zone) would be a better idea. If implemented properly (placing limits on the number of zone AHs where one can list items), it may work.

This is a pointless thread/poll. ZeniMax already said they are working on kiosks for every major city where any guild can bid on the kiosk and the winning guild will have the kiosk for a week.

Any player regardless of Guild affiliation will be able to buy from the guild that has the current control of the kiosk.

How about you read the announcements and never talk about this again.

I'd love for the option of public guilt stores - Maybe have an option where the guild that have hit 500 players are the ones that have the open guild stores to the public.

    > Love this Poll idea, the server's lack of players has made it hard to get reasonable prices off people.

The idea of reasonable priced legendarys makes me tingle in a good way, if you know what I'm sayin'

+ In regard of this comment, I disagree with the idea of having a winning guild have the Kiosk for a week, considering most guilds are going to make things unfair, and throw in expensive things and probably double their price.

    > Please don't tell people what to do with their threads, that's not your discussion to make, and I'm not having an argument over this, just take what this sentence is focused on.

I think the option of guilds having a public store is a good one. Only thing that would put me off is there are so many guilds how would a buyer know which guild to buy from ??? The only way would be to search for a specific item across all guild stores but then would that create the same problem as a server wide AH??? Not sure there's a solution to this yet, will take an awful lot of time & consideration before they put something into place. I agree with Ben$ though with the kiosk it would give the guild in control too much power to control prices in the game.

Great. Another AH poll. Just what the diametrically opposed forum population needs, another opportunity to tell each other why their opinion is wrong.

I believe this option is actually in the works.

To me , the best option would be a server wide AH , that simple.

    This topic again.

    1. ZOS has stated multiple times that they will not implement the AH, and are happy with the current player based economy. This was their objective from the start.
    2. Guild kiosks will be implemented in near future. Kiosks will be won by the highest bidding guild, and said guild will be able to open their guild store to other players in the kiosk.

I personally love to barter. It has been a decade since I had so much in game haggling fun. It's personal, it's player driven, it feels like a real deal.

The dude amuses me, I give a discount. The dude's rude, no deal and or further recommendation. The seller is dedicated, I have my long term supplier. We had a good deal, we end up good pals and guildies.

These are the fun you can never get with AH. Especially that disgusting RMT AH in D3.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

Yes even though I have 3 trade guilds, they never have what Iam looking for. Whereas in games of an AH they would always have what I wanted to buy. I'd rather not spend my time in zone chat asking to buy.

Another AH thread what 2 hours from the LAST one? ZoS isn't putting a global AH in the game, Paul Sage has stated that as fact. It doesn't matter how many crying threads there are about it, it's not going to happen. Besides, having one will NOT REMOTELY stop chat spam to buy/sell items, not ever.

I like the idea of guilds pooling alliance points to get a hub in the capital city for a global guildstore say 7 campaigns 7 guild stores open to the highest bidder of each would also erupt the PvP world.

Not having a global AH is killing this game for me. I simply do not want to spend my time dealing with the current system. I want to be able to just put something up and sell it or search and buy it.

I do not want to nor should I have to join 5 guilds to get what is needed or spam chat to sell/buy anything. I will probably be canceling after this month due to this fact.

I want to spend my time playing the game not shopping/selling. A global AH would make that convenient and allow players to spend more time enjoying the game.

I dont care about the chat , i can turn it off easily , it means nothing overall , not that i get much chat on the VR zones anyway , so i never had this problem outside when i visist my starter town.

What i want from an AH is a supply of any items i may want while playing , with 0 need for me to waste my time interacting and trading directly with other players , something i consider probably one of the worse wastes of time possible in a game.

So , if they can provide me with a giant shop where i can find anything without dealing with the vendors , im fine. Be it AH or something else. If they dont provide me with said shop , then we have an issue.

That is nice for those that like it , i avoid this kind of thing the most i can in any game i play , never did in ESO and unless something close to my very life deppending on it happens , i wont do it.

So what i have are my guild AHs , nope i wont trade with guildies either , not that i would notice , all my trade guilds are muted.

So , im still waiting for them to add a real market that can provide me what i need with 0 interaction , if they cant do that , then yeap , another negative point to add to the list on this game.

these polls end up being 60/40 for the AH, the same reasons for and against are rehashed, refuted and rehashed again...

First, let me say I agree with your initial statement... "This topic again" as another in a long list of topics that keep popping up... our views, both for and against are all well known and I am relatively sure ZOS can answer every one but has grown tired of doing so

Second, That ZOS may have in the past stated that there would be no AH, this in no way means that they can't change their minds, the Kiosks are a change in that direction, but they favor bigger more "Affluent" guilds, small guilds and individuals will not benefit from a Kiosk system as they would with an AH. Yes, they can buy at the Guild Kiosk, but they can't sell there.

You can say "Well, Join a Guild" but guilds to me are things with friends that I chat with, that I hang out with, not that I try to undercut, an AH is much more impersonal, I can undercut someone who I think is over charging in a heartbeat, but I would not want to do it to a friend, and that is what guilds should be, friends.

Now, bring out the horse carcass so we can beat it a bit longer.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

That is the first intelligent response as to why ZoS should put in a global AH. I don't agree with having one but at least you have a valid reason, the "buy anything at anytime without human interaction" gambit. And at least you recognize that an AH won't change chat, which is what 99.99% of the arguments are.

I could do without the global AH if they would just fix the guildstores to a reasonable level of functionality. We need more robust search function and the ability to search by name.

The 1.2.3 changes are a HUGE leap in the right direction though, if they also add a search feature so I could say search the word 'Warlock' then it'd be golden.
