I've encountered a few situations in which ZoS has done are really nice job showing as opposed to telling a story. And for me that adds a lot of enjoyment to the game play.

One example was a dead traveler and a small camp thrown into a state of disorder. When I approached the dead body, a number of skeletons spawned, essentially showing what was responsible for the state of the scene. It only took 10-15 sec of my time, but it made the trek across the zone more memorable and interesting.

Another example along similar but not identical lines is the puzzle involving stealing the tear of jone? The puzzle there also told a story in a way that integrated with the entire temple scene. For me was a lot more entertaining than the match the colors puzzles or read something from a book puzzles.

    Completely agree.

Some scenes are downright jarring... My example would be

SPOILER ALERT for Fort ZEREN in Ebonheart Pact :::

If you choose to go aid Rana on the Docks in Bal Foyen... you get congratulated and direct to Davon's Watch. However, for those that wondered about the consequences of our decision and went to Fort Zeren afterward, we were met with a shocking scene. Everyone dead, except the dog from Bleakrock mourning for his slain master and wife. Was downright heartbreaking.

Works the other way too, if you defend Fort Zeren and then go to the Bal Foyen Docks.

Another example would be the Diary Paper Trails in the Dungeons which can lead to additional quests to inform their families. The Paper Trails always tell you what they intend to do and why and the bodies or sometimes the people tell you the result.
Oooh look, lot's of Butterflies! Wait! Butterflies? Get out of here Sheo, stop bugging me!
