disgusting is an interesting word to describe behavior.

People are upset and the internet is the new wild west. Yeah there are sheriffs, but the law is pretty open to interpretation and the consequences are low if any.

Also, this is a franchise that tends to cater to the obsessive among us. Every Elder Scrolls game has been a sweeping epic of win and the expectation of that in ESO has left the failures it has stumbled upon in its infancy even more subject to ridicule.

That last sentence isn't incredibly clear, but I have to take issue with the first part of it. If you read the forums for Skyrim, you would know that opinions vary quite widely on whether or not each Elder Scrolls game has been a "sweeping epic of win" (I don't know what that is, either). But more importantly, what failures are you referring to? From the start of beta, ESO has felt like an Elder Scrolls game. And even if it there are issues that you have with it, it's no excuse for the disgusting behavior of some of the posters on this forum, who will (and these are real threads, look them up) claim that everything from ZO's hiring practices to a special deal being run on the Bethesda Store are signs that the game is dead.

Not that you are totally wrong but calling the entire community "disgusting" is pretty far from being respectful. Also the buzzword you were trying to use was "entitled" and you are using it wrong.

    I couldn't agree more OP.
Unfortunately the internet brings out the worst in some posters(apparently it's the cool thing to do).
As alluded to earlier, anonymity often leads to the most awful and disrespectful behavior in some.

Sadly, this is unlikely to change any time soon.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Man and some of you claiming it's half finished have never played an mmo. An mmo is never finished. Look at wow 10 years and still in development. It released with tons of content and the fundamentals of the game. It's completed, your complaints are unwarranted because they have no fabric to them. They are not constructive and some of the complaints above are just untrue or your computer is special and the problems relate to you.

If this game is not completed, what is completed? This game has 100* more content then halo, uncharted, skyrim itself(which was riddled with even more bugs), legend if Zelda, cod, assasins creed. I could keep on naming, but I'll stop. This game is complete but development keeps going on because we pay sub.

Exactly. Before the internet, they were listening to German heavy metal bands and carrying around Aleister Crowley books in hopes of shocking their parents.

Although I suspect that is still happeneing. :p

These threads really crack me up. People on a game forum critical of a game are "disgusting" but you guys think that totally trashing the people on the forum somehow makes you righteous. At least most of the people that complain about the game either a) wanted the game to be good and got frustrated and are venting or b) really like the game and are complaining in hopes that things get fixed.

What exactly is trashing the community trying to achieve? At the end of the day which is more disgusting complaining about a product you pay for or complaining about and attacking people?

A rule I had for my subordinates while I was in the military was never come to me with a problem, without one or more proposed solutions or alternative courses of action.

I've endeavored to do the same here: I despise forced-solo instances in an MMO, and the developers of ESO effectively locked much of the game's content behind a forced-solo wall.

My proposed solution is to allow cooperative play, while still allowing (but not forcing) solo play. Sadly, my suggestion has fallen on deaf ears.

    @nerevarine1138

Sweeping epic of win is I guess my own particular vernacular. It means that generally positive reception to the game, it made money and they are all looked upon favorably as time passes.

I guess I should have added the word perceived before failures, as they are not my opinions. I was trying to put myself in the shoes of one that was thought of the be "disgustingly" behaved.

I think its pretty obvious I am a supporter of this game, and I don't feel disgusting. That may or may not be the general consensus, I don't know.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Okay so to the fanbois: None of you believe the game being phiss fecking poor and broken could turn it's community against it? That everyone is just out to be a d-bag to give YOU a bad day because after all when we wake up YOU are all that matters in our life. Not a quality and entertaining game for the premium price.

-to the fanbois that think everything is about them: No one , outside of your immediately family, gives two shts about you. If the game was entertaining enough to hold the audience, the audience would not be so frustratingly upset. Many players that feel roped in by the overhype and lies, are stuck with this game until they can afford something else. Deal with it or turn chat off. It isn't forced on you.

    Emo. /facepalm.

Well, I was in a rush yesterday, and went to the local take out for dinner, and I felt a little disgusting a while after eating that. Last time I am going there for a while.

The irony in that statement is profound.

I almost want to give you an "insightful" vote just because of the light you shed on the "angry boy" crowd.

    Almost...

I think the community is fine and the forums mellow. You know why you mostly see complaints here? Because people with no issues raise no issues. Doesn't mean it's toxic. This entire thread is one pathetic strawman. Here, a quote:
It's okay to complain and make constructive critics.. But half of the posts are just "Ermagawd you made crabs walk forward, you BROKE the game! close the servers and fix this NOW!"

    Except no-one ever did that.

Fanbois need to realize that pointing out the game's problems is actually helpful, whereas pretending everything is fine is counter-productive. We know by now that Zenimax doesn't have any kind of testing team, so it's up to us to figure out all the bugs. And you know what, we are damn sure gonna complain about them. That's how stuff gets done.

Anyway that wasn't my point. My point was people can be respectful about their critisim. I'm sorry if you have a hard time understanding that. I don't care if people complain but they don't need to be as vile and rude about it. (Especially when the issue is usually being worked on and not a game breaker)
