I agree with that guy, robe looks extremely ugly now. Reverse changes.
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
    And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
    Ends life, kills laughter.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of those hip plates, it's fine on Heavy Armour and ok Most of the time on Medium Armour, but it's plain wrong on Light Armour.

Mind you I can't complain too much, I just got my Light Armour Jerkin so I'm happy at the minute.

Interesting fact: Those ugly thigh plates they stick on every single piece of light armor out there are called:

Faulds or Tassets. At least the ones we have are not anywhre near as ugly as the examples used on this wikipage, aka REAL WORLD examples.

I notice that those Faulds and Tassets were all for plate armour (heavy Armour in this game).

As I said before they just look wrong on Light Armour.

    Thanks for the Link @mndfreeze

Yeah, I do believe however in a lot of classic armor there were types where plates were put into various types of leathers and cloth layers, So how our light armor looks is not completely off the wall unrealistic. I dont even mind the plates on my light armor Dunmer Robe. I DO MIND how they stick out and float away from my legs though, that is weird.

But for sure I agree with you that they shouldn't be on every single piece out there. And while I am not well versed in barbaric, it seems the lore-background of that style alone would sort of rule out having those sort of plates there.

Semi related question, does anyone know if those side plates are part of the CHEST or part of the LEGS when it comes to crafting and the look on your body? Is it possible that maybe they are really part of the leg set and crafting a different leg set may get rid of em?

Well my Dunmer Linen Jerkin has them, so I'ld say part of the chest.

    Hope that helps.

Don't know, I've always had trousers on, no interest in seeing my characters half dresses.

I do know that they aren't part of the trousers.

That's one of the reasons I prefer the Jerkins to robes, that and them not being dresses ;)

But seriously my point was they appear to be part of the Top not the trousers, and I would presume that it's the same for the Barbaric Robes

@Crislevin are they all barbarian or just the last one? The faulds are kind of out of place on all of them, it's decoration for the sake of decoration, maybe to hide the fact the belts need more styling.

Yeah, they are just plain bad. Ther rest of the styling works though, on all of them.

The hip plates are there to hide the distortion in your characters hip when you crouch.

They mostly look like they were added to the game late since they do not alter their position on the hip size of your character.

If you play a slim character with small hips then they float far out in the air next to your char.....

Overall they are incredibly ugly but they are there to hide an even worse graphic flaw.

They are not optional, they are part of the chest piece and if you wear the chest piece you get them.

Actually, they are there to show the fluidity of the female figure running... they go with the flow as it were...

now that you know, be careful to watch where you are running... female corpses are not as mesmerizing as females running.

@mndfreeze‌, I'm guessing that makes fast travel a little more difficult. (Surprised no arrow-to-the-knee jokes came out of this either...)

Possibly, I had to google it, but never watched Forest Gump (I know I will someday just haven't yet). I was just stating my disinterest in stripping my male characters down to their undies, given that I am also male and straight.

Now if I ever get around to creating a Female character, then I could see the point, sort of.

I don't think that is the case. Many of the lower level robes have none of these things and I can't see any weird distortion when crouching.

    @‌crislevin
    Screenshots.
These look so much natural on males than on females. On females they all seem to be suspended 2cm away from the hips.
