Suggestion: Bring Back the E-mail Survey from Beta

A lot of people seem really upset that there is no survey when they cancel their sub. It occurs to me that surveying people who have already left for good may not yield much constructive feedback. However, surveying your users period could be a good thing.

I remember the e-mail survey during beta being a useful means of gathering your thoughts and relaying them to the devs. It didn't take much time and the questions sometimes varied depending on what the devs were focusing on. Then launch happened and suddenly that avenue of communication disappeared.

I would like to see this returned. Make it entirely optional and have a long time-frame between surveys. Don't want to badger people. Make it every 2 weeks or once a month.

It'd be a good way for ZOS to get a sense of their users' suggestions and criticisms. I also think many people who don't care to participate in a public forum might participate in such a survey.

What do you guys think? Is this something you'd like to see or could you care less?

    I'm all for any communication.

However, I just want to point out that it didn't do us any good then.

Multi-million dollar game studios have shown a tendency to think that they possess vastly more insight into what their customers actually want and more often that not, they have convinced themselves that they know this better than the customers themselves.

When it's all said and done, they are not particularly interested in knowing what you think, but they will go to great lengths to put forth the illusion that they are interested...

    Sad, but quite true.

Nailed it. I'm now regretting putting so much time and consideration into each of those surveys. A lot of good it did...

And your evidence is, apart from the fact it seems your own feedback wasn't acted upon?

I think it's quite clear they DID take action on many aspects of those surveys, the dumbing down of several aspects from the first beta I played (the first open session) was noticeable, the elimination of the starter zones and their banishment to optional content because many people wanted to rush to the capital city NOW!, etc. etc.

Plenty of evidence they listened, just not to players with views such as yours, or mine.
