Note:This is quite long and I ask that you take the time to read it carefully and offer your opinion on the matter. Try to be constructive. I tried to offer my view point in a professional and clear way, I hope you can do the same. This is not a stam vs magicka thread. Simply a thread about broken abilities and broken promises. If you must skip reading, TL;DR at the bottom.Intro: The problem
For a patch that we waited over a month for in hopes of it actually fixing our broken/buggy class I am extremely disappointed that this is all they came up with. Half the bugs they state they "fixed" didn't actually do anything at all. In fact, strangely enough, they fixed more things in regards to templars than they did for nightblades and we have a 90.1k viewed, 1.5k commented, 52 page thread up since May 22 where the nightblade community (or whats left of it) tried discussing with Zos the many issues regarding the Nightblade class!
If you haven't seen it here's a link to the Nightblade Upade thread that mentions a list of nightblade
fixes and improvements that we were supposed to receive in patch 1.2
http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/post/discussion/EN-general-discussion
also, if you check, you can see almost every single "fix" from the above thread listed in the "known issues of 1.2.3" thread as
still not working.
1.Cloak is still broken by our own dots.
2.Haste still does not apply to ranged weapons (or any other form of attack speed) and would still be useless regardless due to animation canceling.
3.The increase in magika for the siphoning passive only seems to work half the time and then bugs out.
and these were just a few things they TOLD us they would fix in patch 1.2 over a month ago. Not to mention actual balance and quality of life changes that every other class seems to be getting, while we can't even seem to get our broken abilities working correctly.
Things that have bothered me:
1.They changed a Haste morph but haven't even fixed the base skill regardless of stating they have, once again.
2.Refreshing Shadows. You would assume 30% stam regen at all times would be significant right? Not at all. How many of us weren't already stam regen softcapped or darn near close. I gained maybe 4 extra regen at all times. Seems very lack luster.
3. They actually managed to nerf a major ability for NB's without stating any reason why. It's not like NB's were completely dominating due to regen. We already had to compensate with a 22% weapon and spell damage decrease, now the ability is hardly worth it. That's too big of a cut for something that does so little and yet is necessary due to extremely high class skill costs. I was actually thinking this would get buffed and the decrease would be lowered, guess I misjudged that one.
4. It bothers me that we tried working with Zos for over a month to find the right NB fixes and yet Templars, who had only gotten a thread acknowledging their issues a week or so prior to the patch (posting date June 19th), actually received more and better changes than the class that's been screaming for help since beta.
My personal Nightblade experience and opinion
Now, I'm not going to say NB's are terrible. I still do fairly well. A lot of the issues some would have you believe are NB related issues are actually do to the massive imbalance of stamina builds compared to their magika overlords. I just want the bugs fixed. I was hoping that once the bugs are dealt with, actual quality of life changes could begin to happen, but as is even our major class defining ability is still completely broken. How this isn't an "on the fly" kind of problem I just don't know. All the "fixes" that were done to this class in 1.2 should have been hotfixes months ago. Nothing in these patch notes is even remotely significant enough to justify waiting this long, especially considering none of the fixes they tried actually worked.
Positive and supportive to... I just don't know
I'm normally all supportive with Zos and their efforts, as you can see from my passed posting history. I've experienced multiple beginnings of MMO's and have been a diehard TES fan since Morrowind was released. I know bugs are a part of the game and no game can be expected to be perfect especially a TES game, it's part of their reputation to have tons of bugs in their games and I always know this coming into them. But even I am getting worn down by the lack of communication and direction that seems to be happening. I understand that these things take time and I've argued that exact point with people on here before, but it's getting hard to justify waiting months for issues to be fixed that I know I personally, along with many others, reported back in the first few beta tests. I was really hoping the Nightblade Update thread was Zos honest attempt to make things right, but that didn't go so well.
Zos Appreciated, but can still do better.
I by no means think Zos is doing a terrible job. I've appreciated many of the game fixes they've applied and worked so hard for, but this is a major area of the game that affects a player from the second they begin. Since beta, it has been a risk to roll a Nightblade because you never know what abilities actually work and what don't do anything at all. I could only imagine if I was new to the series and had experienced the lack of function in this class. I can't imagine I'd stay too long after spending hours investing time in a class thats' core abilities just don't work. I'm not much of an alt person,
so for me, it's Nightblade or nothing. This is not a "fix this or I'm done" thread, simply a statement of the facts and occurrences that many of you may not be aware due to the lack of information.
TL;DR: After months of waiting for promised fixes in patch 1.2, the nightblade class received 1 buff, multiple "fixes" that didn't actually fix anything, 2 updates to abilites that were and still are useless, and one significant nerf. Worth the wait? Nope. Guess we will try again next month.
