Undocumented Crafting nerf in 1.2.3?

Not sure if this is a bug, but deconstructing any cloth items (dropped items that sell for gold, not the ones you pick up in the world) now have a VERY little chance to yield any usable materials.

May just be an unfortunate side effect of implementing the trash armor / weapons that can be picked up in the environment and deconstructed.

Either way, it sucks. If it sells for real gold, then it should yield usable results. A lv50 crafter w/ all skill points in the passives should NOT be getting 0 results 15x in a row from deconstructing VR level white items. When I actually DID receive any items, it would be 1 Starmetal or 1 Corundum, MAYBE 1 cloth.

This is a DRASTIC change compared to prior to 1.2.3.

Edit: After going on to deconstruct some 50 or so more items, it seems that the yield rates for blues and purples has also gone down drastically, often yielding 0-1 items.

This is w/ max points in Unraveling (as well as the all of the other passives in Clothing.

Deconstruction just became extremely lame overnight.

Is this happening for you with ALL items you deconstruct, or just with the junky ones they made interactable that you couldn't pick up before?

If it's the latter, I'd say that it isn't a nerf because those are new items, and it is probably working as intended. If the items have little to no value for sale why would they yield materials that have value? That wouldn't make sense.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

This sucks. Definitely not looking forward to this then...especially since my boyfriend and I were just about to make new characters after the patch.

This is happening to me w/ ALL items. The items that I deconstructed were from before patch 1.2.3, so it is not possible that it was the junky ones that were recently made interactable.

I thought that I stated this very clearly in the OP. Twice.

I am talking about VR level whites that were dropped from mob kills and sell for gold, traits and w/out traits. I am talking about VR level blues and purples that came from mob kills and treasure chests. I am talking about almost everything that I deconstructed tonight, which was well over 50 items.

Incidentally, I did notice that my highest yields came from green items, much higher yield than blues (which frequently gave "No usable results").

Edited OP to reflect that this is happening w/ everything that I've deconstructed, not just white-level drops.

I just tested deconstructing a bunch of stuff and OP is incorrect or experiencing really bad luck. The returns from deconstructing were pretty much on par with what I got before the patch.

Same here, I DC a bunch of stuffs tonight.

I do have more luck then I deserve so it can still been reduced, but I got a few purples :-)

I suppose it COULD have just been an extremely loooooong run of terrible luck, but I've NEVER had my blues yield 0 items prior to tonight, and certainly not multiple times in a row.

I'm going to keep track of my results in future decon sessions (I generally decon 50-100 items every couple days or so) and see if it was just terrible RNG.

But if others are not having the same kind of extremely disappointing results, then at least that might be somewhat promising.

I also got a few purples, but out of 50+ items, I ended up w/ 6 Kresh fiber and 10 shadowcloth. That's... way less than normal in cloth yield.

Weapons and armor found in the world can now be picked up and equipped.

These items are low quality, but can be used if needed.
These items sell for 0 gold.
These items can be upgraded through crafting.
These items can be deconstructed, but yield very low inspiration and rarely yield usable resources.

This is not at all what I'm talking about.

I've notice an overall drop in upgrade item yields since latest patch for both breaking down non-white items, and refining ore/wood/cloth. either that, or rng is trolling me mercilessly.

Varicite what is your character level and what is the level of these items?

If the items are higher level than the next tier above you, you will only get the trait, race, and upgrade items, but no material.

I noticed too a big drop in extraction. Even a blue item yielding 0 materials. I suspect it's because it was in the same session of deconstructing also junk and the game keeps that in memory (sort of). Maybe try next time to separate the sessions (preferably with a logoff/logon in betweem).

Was this a recent change (as in, the last few days), because this has never been the case before.

The clothing crafter is only lv40 and is deconstructing VR1 level items. What you describe has never been the case prior to tonight, which is the first time I've used her to deconstruct (was waiting on 7th trait researches to finish) since the last patch.

I've used this character to deconstruct VR1-7 items quite extensively during the past month and have always had decent cloth yields in addition to race / trait / upgrade materials.

I don't think it's something recent. I made a poll about it a month ago when I discovered what was happening.

do you have the skills as I'm getting double the results from deconstructing. Maybe you need to look at the skills in each crafting line and select accordingly.

There wasn't a nerf at all but some things do not work exactly like they use to.

I stated in the OP that I have all of the skills related to Clothing and that my profession is maxed. <.<
