Yes, I'd like to be able to practice some 1on1 fights without having to take a five minute journey if I lose.

Also to spar with friends.

And betting, let's not forget betting.

I can't see a downside.

For those who don't know, there are already guilds dedicated to dueling.

On NA server I think Legend is the most active.
Right now we tend to have more DC players than EP and AD at our gatherings.

Duels need NOT be in arenas. I think of duels as being akin to their historical counterparts, personal challenges engaged in for a variety of reasons in a variety of places. ARENAS are a completely separate thing and I would love to see those TOO! Arena fighting can be a spectating sport with different configurations of opponents fighting in teams as well as 1vs 1. And, of course, betting could be enabled and that would be fantastic. IF they put an arena in the game I kind of hope they'll also "stock" it with monsters that teams can choose to fight against as well. And in an arena there should be a prize system. Dueling, on the other hand, is personal combat and strictly for honor.

So if someone wants to make an ARENA poll I'll be glad to vote "yes" in it, provided they aren't trying to REPLACE duels with it. These really are completely SEPARATE things!

a big freaking 'NO' to duel challenge. I remember when i was leveling up in wow, players would challenge me and if i declined. i got whispers like "lol, what a p___y" or "yeah, run like a little b___h that you are!" and other numerous insults. so yeah... no thank you.

and also, imagine countless duel challenges from self-claimed vamp hunters. yeah.... I def. vote big fat 'NO'.

You clearly have not read the entire opening post on the poll nor the numerous explanations others have given for how a dueling system would work. As in SWTOR you would have to flag yourself as being available for duels otherwise no one could even send you a challenge. And if some idiot started whispering you asking you to flag yourself and accept a challenge...that's what the ignore function is for. And I'd report them for harassment to boot.

I wouldn't mind if:

1) It was playpenned off, as PvP currently is. Let it be restricted to an arena or other special area just for dueling/sparring for 1v1 and up. I don't miss getting duel-spammed at all.

2) It doesn't lead to a lot of irritating constant "balancing" that affects PvE play in negative ways (which it almost always does.) Re-balance players vs monsters in vet content, and be done with it; let the PvPers realize that they'll never have Mario vs Luigi here.

I've seen such duelling systems in other MMORPGs. I found it extremely annoying to see what seemed like10 year olds constantly duelling in all cities, at all quest points and dungeon entrances. And every single time you gather a group for a raid or to grind for a while or do a quest some people will have to start duelling and then everyone else has to wait for the duel to finish before the group can actually start. No, thanks!
It also takes away all "seriousness" of PvP and basically makes it a joke with no consequences. Duelling anywhere any time is for cartoon superhero games (there's enough of those out there already) but not for ESO.

If it happens only in confined duelling areas I wouldn't mind it, of course. There, it wouldn't disturb anyone who is annoyed by it and the people who like duelling could still test their skills for PvP there (and see who's the best in 1v1!!!). But please do not make duelling possible everywhere.

While there have been a few trolls I would have loved to duel, it's not something I would normally use. That being said, I see a lot of people asking for it, so it's obviously a popular request. If we could opt out ahead of time so we wouldn't be bothered with challenges if we didn't want them, I would be all for it. The people who wish to duel should be able to do so.

I got the feeling, 80% of the No-sayers only red the titel and not the rest, as they are worried about being spammed with duel requests.

I allmost never duel, but I would totaly support content, that others can enjoy.

Probably, I used to get spammed with duel requests in swtor. Even with the auto-decline feature some idiots still tried to get a duel, you'ld think an aut-decline would give them a hint.

But as I said earlier if you have an autodecline option, then it's ok. You can always add idiots who pester you to your ignore list.

No, and just because in other games even with autodecline, you just get idiots spamming you with messages asking for duels instead.

I voted NO because of the limited options.

IF they add dueling, even with the auto-decline option, they should NEVER be allowed in towns.

Nothing worse than A$$hats jumping around, stroking their e-peens, spamming light-shows while you are trying to concentrate.

I get that *** swarm in MMOs. Believe me, I've dealt with my share of them. And no matter what we or the devs do, the ingenious little monkeys WILL find a way to be annoying...because that's really the only reason they play. It's pathetic, but there it is. So I would hope that, if you have your option set to auto decline, and someone starts sending you whispers trying to get you to duel you could screenshot it and report them and they'd pretty much get auto-banned for a week. Even more satisfying than putting them on ignore. But even so, I really don't want duels confined to arenas because, quite simply, that's not what dueling is. But I do understand the concern about it being disruptive in certain places. So I might propose the following compromise and I'd appreciate your input. Historically speaking, duels did not break out in market places or taverns, though challenges were often given there. The duel itself took place nearby in a fairly secluded area that was pretty much an acknowledged dueling field. This is not an arena with spectator seats or betting. So I'd like to see such areas set aside in all the city hubs or, perhaps even better, simply disallow duels within towns and dungeons. What do you think?
