Do you support a duelling function?

Assuming that the addition of a duel option would work in the following way, would you like to see it added?
1. Dueling would be completely optional with a setting that will allow you to auto-ignore all challenges so you cannot be spammed/harassed. You, the player, will have to flag yourself FOR dueling, it will not be the default.
2. Dueling will be enabled ANYWHERE within the game, NOT just confined to PvP zones.

Please feel free to elaborate on your answers!

As long as you can turn off the flag, and deselect yourself at any time, sure why not. It would add something to the game, and if it's voluntary it can't take anything away from the game.

Anything that can only add gets my support.

I typically Don't duel, but certainly I have nothing against it being in the game, sometimes it is a great test for PvP builds. So put it in, won't affect me one way or the other.

As an individual who doesn't duel I don't see why not, a lot of people want this feature for some reason.
That being said there would have to be an option to prevent players from requesting a duel, one which you can turn on and off in your settings, otherwise it will get rather annoying fast.

That being said, I feel there are more pressing concerns and other features which should be implemented first before duelling is even considered... But that's just me.

    No is the obvious choice.

    1.Default set to dueling? A ganker's paradise.

    2. Dueling everywhere including all PVE areas? PVPers' wet-dream and a PITA for people going about their regular business(really, really want to have these clowns jumping and fighting in the bank buildings.. not)

    So again NO.

I'm not a Dueller or PVPer by any stretch of imagination, but a gameplay mechanic such as this would allow, perhaps even encourage more player to player interaction. As such, provided I have the option to let those people know that I'm not interested in a duel/duelling, I'm all for the implementation of such a function.

It'd certainly make for some interesting player run events, duelling tournaments, showdowns, who's better than you competitions, whatever you want to call it, add bit of /celebrate and /dishonour on the side to get the crowd riled and it's sure to be an interesting show.

Since I've stated that the way it would work is that you would actually have to flag yourself for it so you could NOT be spammed by ***, can you please explain your objection to having it available anywhere?

I do not support dueling in Cyrodil because it would most likely be a crime in the Alliances to kill other soldiers from same alliance

It's funny how the folks who keep saying no are the ones who seem to have never played an MMO before... Dueling isn't PVP in the traditional sense. There is no flag (a flag system is pretty silly, all you need is an option in the settings to autodecline duels just like you can autodecline guild invites, trades, etc). It would be an option, that you could initiate with one other player, like a tell or trade for instance. They have so long to respond before the request expires. If they'd like to accept your challenge, once they accept, both parties are given a few seconds to prepare, and then the duel commences. Nobody can interfere or participate other than the two engaged in a duel. Once one party drops below the health threshold, duel is over. Again, there is literally no reason something like this can't be implemented. If you don't want to duel, nobody is forcing you to. It takes nothing away from the game whatsoever.

There would be people spamming chat for duels just like there are already people spamming for groups, trades, bites, guilds etc. Then there are places like banks, merchants, etc. These are often crowded enough without the addition of loons jumping around in a willy waving.................sorry duelling contest

Chat is pretty empty at the minute, oh you get the odd spate of posting usually when people want to do a boss or dolmen (I did one earlier today, but the boss summoned a Storm Attronach straight away).

A little livening up of chat can't hurt, god I remember some of the discussions I used to have in Swtor, they were fun, usually, and often enlightening.

I'd love to see dueling added. I'd like to see it similar to Star Wars Galaxies duel system where people could duel multiple people, and groups could duel each other. That would be epic.

I would want this feature added and would like expanded upon.

Duel Function in Menu: Default Off: Can toggle on if desired. This works like most games duel function.

New feature: Add group duels. A group can duel another group. All group members must accept the duel invite.

Why I think it would be great.

Pick an area in Cyrodil and have arena type events. Can be inside keeps or out in the open if wanting a change in environment. This way people can stand up on the walls and watch the fights (cough bets). If they ever decide to add an arena type area then it will easy to implement. Just make a safe area in Cyrodil that is portable and that all factions can port into. They can then duel if they want to.

So spamming chat is the most substantial reason you have for not implementing a duel system? LMAO. Here's a protip, you can simply not read the chat sections that are being 'spammed.' It's actually pretty simple.

Except reading zone chat in Cyrodil is important to see what other groups are doing and making a decision to either support them or pick a different target.

Only if they spam duelling requests, you can't ban people for asking to duel once or twice. You can mock them if they ask you a second time though, harshly if it's close together (ie ten minutes or less), gently if it's over that time limit.

    Now use your powers wisely.

Except it's not an 'add' for many people. As others have said, having a bunch of people running around towns duelling is a complete pain in the ass for a lot of the rest of the players and is often used to intentionally disrupt what they are doing.

Its bad enough with idiots spamming light shows at every bank and crafting area, I don't need even more doing it while duelling.

And it's got nothing to do with PvP per se - its simply that its disruptive and unnecessary. If you want to duel someone, go to Cyrodil.

A bit harsh isn't it, I mean it's a valid request, not one I would have made but still valis, after all quite a few people enjoy duelling in other MMOs. And if it has an autodecline option, then you will never know someone tried to duel you.

I remain neutral, i want duels, but not whats known in MMO world as duels.
Im all for duels, but in an arena where you can queue up and get achievements and awards and what not, never done before, its always:
Open world anywhere duels, click a person and ask to duel then no, definitely not, NOT AGAIN.

Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers wants to duel you do you accept?
    No
Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers wants to duel you do you accept?
    NO
Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers wants to duel you do you accept?
... dude, im questing here NO, NJET, NADA, ZILCH
Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers wants to duel you do you accept?
    ....
Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers wants to duel you do you accept?
    /ignore Mr.Woopass OfallWoopassers

If its an arena you can visit, talk to NPC pay some entrance fee and queue up, YES, if its select random people anywhere everywhere, NO, most definitely NO
if ESo made this kind of arena, i would support the game for all eternity.

As I posted on the identical poll from June 2nd:

If they include an auto-decline and ignore defaulted to on, perhaps I would agree to it... it's not bad enough that you get spammed with requests to Duel by those who want to measure their ePeen, but then you have to listen to them cluck like chickens or some other snide comments, hence I added the ignore... perhaps an "Instant Kill" Synergy is offered to the victim of Duel Spamming... Second request in x seconds "Hit X to Instant Kill the prat"
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Yes, but only if they put in an option to auto decline all duels. It's really annoying when trolls just follow someone spamming a duel request.
