Slow Leveling

pierceoftheender
Is it just me, or does the leveling of your character really start to slow down once your out of the teens, I have 4 days in game playing time (/played)and im a level 32. :\

I understand there are people whom make it to veteran in less time that I've played but they don't follow the story. in my opinion Zenimax and Bethesda should make it so that the more time you spend ingame dialogue the more money, and xp you get, tell me what you fellow adventurers think.

I came for the (relatively) slow levelling of ESO. I still think it is rather fast, but relative to other modern MMOs, I appreciate the pace ESO have set for us.

I didn't actually notice any drastic change over the levels. But then while exploring, I could spend whole game sessions doing very little in the way of questing or combat. Chasing exp/the next level is not playing a game, in MY opinion.

I just would like to be able to try on new gear and conquer new zones, and also get involved in the alliance war cause the current upgrade to the stats is not really all that helpful against enemy players. but hey everyone has different preferences and opinions!

Seriously what is with people who want to rush so fast to level. I wish it had taken me longer then 2 months of realllly casual play to hit VR. ;( I miss the mmorpgs of days far gone when 4 to 6 months was normal just to get to max level, let alone actually doing any real end game content.

If you were a hardcore grind kiddie who never slept you could do it in maybe a month. Not a few days like people can here.

Trust me OP, take your time and enjoy the storyline and questing because once you beat molag bal and get into the veteran areas all it is, is more questing like you are doing now, only the 'reward' feeling you get from leveling is gone since average vet level is 1 per zone.

4 days played and 32 isn't bad by any means. the gear at higher levels is the same as the gear at lower levels, just bigger numbers on it.

People who made it to vet before the game officially released grouped up and did the story line. It is by far the fastest way to level.

I am a casual who used to dip into hardcore and I can tell you that from start to finish this game is extremely fast and easy to level. If you are in a hurry it may seem slow, like watching water boil, but when you look at the facts, having people at end game a few days after release says volumes about how trivial leveling is in ESO.

I'm VR3 after 19d 10hrs. I can waste hours in pvp not doing much and inventory management slows me down as well. If I just focus on questing the leveling is quick enough I just get side tracked too easily.

One of the main reasons I like ESO is just cause it takes time to level. Its not a race.

You have loads of things to do other then your level. Look around a bit :-p

Ask those who rushed to Vet 12 how fun they have. And same question to those who took their time. Im vet 1. Playtime. Hmm. 30 days my "played" says.
Not a single second of boredom!

However, I do not use any addons or google. So spent most my time running around zones like a headless chicken, exploring, finding skyshards, wierd quests and trolls....hate trolls.

I have a very fond memory of an 24h Cyclops grind in another game just to make one level in one go. I remember still pushing and getting that next level done even faster in a total of 40h. Realizing it was an early Sunday, there were still enough hours left to make an attempt at gaining a third level up. Not only did I try, but made it. The weekend was gone, I hadn't slept, but level cap got 3 levels closer.

I had similar experiences with not so virtual substances, but could handle them with much more care than that. Once, it's awesome (and multiple times after, but y'know eventually it'll *** ya up). But do we really wish to go there again? Can we wish for it being that way again, with a clear conscience very much knowing it'll draw in the innocent.

    The junkie within screams YES!

Horizontal progression is what we all need for our well-being, coming to terms with the addiction and it not having any negative impact on our everyday life. Spread, pick and choose, rather than struggling up the ladder in a craze.

Should you happen to have no clue what I was rambling about, turn around, run and don't look back.

No. Some of the people who are now Vets did the entire quest line, but those who became vets a day or two after launch farmed mobs.

The fastest way to level up is to farm mobs with one other person. It's kind of fun at first, and then very boring.

I like running with no mods and don't mind missing things. It helps me waste more time as well as once I get near the end of finishing a zone I check my journal and go for the few shards I'm sure I missed. Start looking at empty spots on maps and wondering what stuff is most likely hiding there, etc. Just like the other TES games they love to stick random skeletons with a book or just some neat mobs and stuff around it that sort of tells a little mini story if you take a second to look.

I actually start to get more bored when I try to quest quest qeust quest, point a to b point a to b point a to b. If I just sort of relax and let myself get sidetracked if something is interesting enough to side track me, it takes me longer to complete things but makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Just like Skyrim. Though I played some of the other TES games Skyrim was what blew me away with the endless quests and hidden places to explore. Everywhere you turned there was something interesting on the horizon, and when you got back up from some vast dungeon there was something else picking on your curiosity.
    In ESO:
Turn off all quest markers for a closer similarity to Skyrim.
Be warned, you may have to listen to the NPCs, take notes and it will take IMMENSELY longer searching for things .
Though you cannot turn off the 3D markers, only the map/compass indicators.
edit: I might add that you do get the skyrim feel in ESO with above solution.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

I think it is great that the questing experience is so long and well made.

Love to have a game I can keep playing.

Find a few treasure chests, each one you open gives you about 1% of your levels xp.

I found myself levelling too fast at first (reading all books, doing all quests etc) and finding newer areas were already a bit lower level than I would have liked, but it seemed to even out the nearer to 50 I got.

If you think this is slow, wait until you get to vet :)

I find myself trying to rush through the levels to get to end-game content as well. I think I've been conditioned to play this way through being part of numerous hardcore raiding guilds throughout the years.

I find that when I force myself to slow it down, maybe do a little crafting or explore a town a little more, I have way more fun. Then, when I got back to grinding out a level in between zones, it's fun to run around and decimate some groups of mobs ,and not a chore.

The experience when playing the game at a slower pace, and paying attention to the stories/environments is pretty outstanding in ESO. They only MMO I've played that comes close is SWTOR.

I'm spending a lot of my time farming either herbs or containers now(no, I do not sell motifs. I do not sell anything as of now)...at least those don't suddenly attack me for 1-2k if I don't notice them in time.

That being said, I found leveling to be really fast up til vet o.O Much faster than I liked it, even, I outleveled my armor like...fast. And I don't think there is any real change in leveling speed til vet - roughly 8 levels per zone or so, no matter the zone. Well, plus starting islands if you do those.

And I never grind and always listen to all the story, myself=) And do all the side quests. Yes, even in vet 8 zone.

I don't want to level fast. It should take a long time, I want to get my money's worth. When you get to endgame, thats all you have left, is endgame. Who in there right mind wants to get to the point where they are running the same 5 dungeons over and over? The slower the better.

When i was beta testing and not leveling past 12 or so I thought it did seem slow on a per level basis but as I played on Live and had the groove down to quests, dolmens and world bosses I realized leveling is actually at a decent rate and you can make about a level and a half (maybe a bit less) in like 3 hrs.

I haven't even looked to see how much time I have spent in game. On average I probably don't even spend 10 hours a week. But I have no problem with the speed of leveling in game. In fact I actually think it is a little fast myself.

I am also working towards being a Master Crafter so a great deal of my gaming time is spent managing inventory and trying to increase in level in the crafting trees.

But when I shift gears and focus on questing, It seems like no time at all before I hit a new level. In fact I'm level 41 and still haven't finished Malabar Tor yet. And the highest mobs in that zone are 37. I just make it a point to flip every rock looking for quests, books, and skyshards. Even being this *** I still miss books from each zone.

In fact a number of times I will hit a second level, craft replacement gear, and discover that the old gear I was wearing really was that badly damaged at all. The point being that I outleveled the gear before it truly needed replacing or repair.
