Patch 1.2.3 has been outstanding!

I really am impressed with all the changes, and I like the direction we are headed. Many of the things I used to need addons for are now provided as well or better by the game without them.

I know some people just can't seem to leave a "positive" thread alone without talking about how it is "ok to be negative" or derailing the topic with their "should have been that way from the start" angry attention seeking, and I wholly expect them to quickly attack this thread until it becomes yet another trolling flame war (though I humbly request you save the "constructive criticism" and cynicism for another thread).

Still, it doesn't change the fact that it IS there now and it IS an improvement.

For example, I no longer need Batman's Store Filter; the new category options cover that. Also the Crafting Level Display addon was uninstalled today as well. If you hadn't noticed, they added even more information than what the addon provided to the tooltip of all crafting materials.

The ability to increase my 1st person FOV is just as awesome as I'd imagined, and allows for some excellent screenshot opportunities.

However, the most spectacular addition by far has been the new lighting engine. They weren't kidding, words really can't describe how incredible this thing is. It isn't just windows casting rays either; you see new sources of light shining from things like runestones as well, and generally the whole look of the game is improved.

Check out these shots from my arrival in Glenumbra today:

Truly breathtaking work. Bravo!

Unfortunately, you pretty well said it all with the "It should have been that way from the start" comment !

Yes, I'd agree this patch is probably the best yet AND definitely a step in the right direction. However, take a wander over to the Customer Service forum, you'll see this patch is far from outstanding. The only thing outstanding is how Zenimax are able to repeatedly make patches that create more bugs/issues than they actually fix.

The only thing I'd certainly praise this patch for is the new 'Delete character' mechanics which is a well needed kick in the nads to all those scumbag botters/gold sellers !

I really enjoy the lighting based graphics update too... :)

As an artist I can tell you for certain that whether you are sketching out a landscape or doing an architectural rendering, if you don't get the lighting (and shadows) right, everything else will turn to poo. It's the most important thing behind the"wow" factor in all the pretty pictures that have impressed you in your lifetime. True story.

Anyway, I unfortunately live in a flat, muggy, humid land of industrial "blah," and so running through gorgeous maps with beautiful effects is quite a nice distraction for me. I really appreciate when game designers go the extra mile to make a more immersing environment.

I got majorly buffed with this patch. The documented DW (rapid strikes specifically) and Medium Armor buffs, as well as the undocumented Ambush and Nord passive buffs have turned me into a super killing machine that never runs out of Stamina. Loving it.

Can`t check the picture, and although I only had a few minutes to test the game before having to go to work now, I loved it, the interior lightning was amazing. I did experience a bit of FPS drop, though nothing bad (haven`t tried Cyrodiil which I heard is not good at the moment).

I also love the FoV slider, I can finally play in FPS mode like how I play all TES / Fallout games!

I will have to play around with my settings. Although not entirely unrealistic, riding toward the sun's glare is like living permanently inside an activated skyshard. I also think the light bouncing off the oil painting is too bright. Definitely going to have to find a way of turning it down.

But I agree about the store. I spent half my play session browsing with no intention to buy. It was great B)

You can now swim in 1st person. w00t!!!
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Thanks ZOS, this patch has really helped in the veteran levels. The reduction from 1.5 to .5 for weapons swapping is huge. A main NB w/ duel wield/bow and an alt sorc w/ destro/restro, I swap a lot.

Adding healing to allies in Refreshing Path helps survivability and adds utility to the NB. Nice.

The changes to Snipe (bow) are huge. Decreasing the cast time from 3 seconds to 2 seconds along w/ reducing the minimum range from 20 meters to 10 has increased my survivability tremendously in the veteran levels. When attacking a mob of 3, I can drop one of them before they other 2 can close the distance. I can handle 2 on 1 no problem. Increasing the Poison Arrow dot by 50% is just tasty icing on the cake.

I tried these out last night and they are great. There are other great changes too, but I just want to reassure the other NB w/ the same specs that veteran levels are doable. I'm enjoying the game again (like the pre-vet levels) and thought that warranted a thank you so thank you.

    A fan @Res_Ipsa.
