Leveling up from 49

I don't know if that has already been discussed/ asked somewhere, I couldn't find anything so here is my question:

I was under the impression, that after level 49 and having the main quest not completed (still have to kill Molag Bal, I guess), I would reach level 50 and then, after completing the main quest go to V1.

This belief was founded on the fact that there are lvl50 recipies as well as lvl 50 equipment.

Imagine my surprise, when in the middle of something I suddenly found myself V1.

So is it really always like that lvl50=V1 or does it depend on your progress in the main quest or something?

    lvl50=V1

The crafting etc made me wonder too why there is lvl50 stuff though it's pretty hard to find V1 mats so one could craft V1 gear when in Coldharbor still. But you will find and be able to do lvl50 set of gear.

Though it's quite helpful to be VR1 before you go off into other factions zone.

I spent a rough 4 levels wandering around Auridon unable to use the healing potions etc. as I was too low level.

So if you want to avoid "shopping trips" it's worth sorting out those last few levels before you do the "grand tour"

My "problem" is that I am not even remotely done with Coldharbor and now worried that I don't get any V-points from questing there. (haven't tried it yet, bc I want to catch up on my crafting and am currently playing an alt)

If I can keep on leveling in CH, I am pretty sure it will be as always with me: I'll be hopelessly overleveled for the next zones. ^^

It used to be so that you will level skills still while V1 in coldharbor or so and also that chests, explore and quests gave you VP. However think yesterday someone said that after patch you did not get any VP anymore or skill exp on pre-vet zone. So I'm not sure.

This would be regrettable, because it would effectively force me to rush the main quest and a complete zone which I was looking forward to exploring at leisure. :(

Why rush? Just clear out cold harbour then go sort out Molag Bal?

Yeah, you are right I guess. It just seems a bit pointless, if I should not get any VP for it.

I have 2 VR characters, and both had reached VR status about midway through coldharbour. You still get progress on you VR exp by running the remaining quests in Coldharbor. Granted it doesn't seem like much with the new huge increase in xp to level, but usually by the time I killed Molag Bal, I have been around VR1.2 or VR1.3.

The opposite of lvl 50=VR1 is also true. VR12 = Lvl 50. So a level 45 creatrue will give you loot and skill xp (though not VR xp).

Quest xp is VR xp though - so you could concievably grind out to 50, then go back and do the level 1 quests for xp.

Don't listen to them! You got drunk and leveled from 50 to v1! You just don't remember it!

I havnt played since the last patch went live, downloaded last night. Prior to that I was level V1 before completing cold harbour and I remember killing mobs gave me 0 XP. I am fairly certain that the quests were still giving me XP though.

I didn't check up on the skill xp so I cant comment on that.

If I remember that right, you will get some points from Coldharbour. I'm pretty sure I reached vet 1 about halfway through it and by the time I defeated Molag Bal my exp bar was no longer empty. But it really didn't have much there either.

Don't worry though, you will never hopelessly outlevel vet zones;) It takes roughly one whole zone with all side quests and stuff, to get ONE vet level. And it doesn't really matter because all you get with that vet level is I think +15(!!) bonus to your stats(by stats I mean health, stamina and magicka) and this is it. Your enemies will get MUCH better bonuses.
Oh, and game firmly believes every vet is lvl 50. So even at vet 12, you'll still get loot from lvl 46(unsure on 45) monsters, unsure if exp.
