It wasn't working for me after a few tries.

Then I opened up the browser once more, said "Initializing" but was at 100% as before with the option to click play. Figured it still wasn't working, went to make a coffee, and have returned to find the patcher has decided to start downloading.

I would suggest opening the patcher and just leaving it 5-10 minutes even if it looks like it is doing nowt at first.

Backup your ESO folder from your Documents, then delete it.

Run the Repair feature from the drop-down.

    Update should start then.

Be happy that we are on EU. Because the EU and US server are in the same location, EU ALWAYS gets a shorter downtime AND they sneak in fixes that the US server didnt have.

Not always bad to be on EU ;-)

EU PvP = Push buttons and wait and see what happens - 5-10sec delay in casts.
EU PvP = Take a Out Post, zone crash, Roll back.
EU PvP = Who ever got the biggest zerg wins just from lag, other side cant cast.
EU PvP = Latency on a good day, 260-350, bad day 350-600 - Whats the point on blocking, dodging....

Thats just the tip of the iceberg too.

    And we are up.

Actually I don't much mind. It was that server downtime was looming, and I forgot about my hirelings and research until late yesterday, when update was due. That is all I wished to do this morning.

Was a little over 4gig when I noticed it had begun downloading.

Looks like it isn't working. The patch file is 9 gb. Even if you have a fast Internet connection, you'll know it's downloading.

It seems to be stuck a little or moving slowly. But, this has happened quite a lot with people downloading ESO. Or the auto reload. ESO servers or whatever are a bit odd for that.

It's downloading no problem (UK) but how big is it? It looks to be a massive patch.

    Well something doesn't look right....

It started at a little over 4gb, and has now dropped to 1.8gb left to download. Yet progress bar shows it is only 11% complete.

So is it downloading in chunks? If my maths doesn't totally suck does that mean the patch is somewhere in the region of 20gigs?

Mine said 25 gig, so I reloaded it, now it says 4.5gig, and is moving at 1% per 10 mins :/

Jumped back up to 12gb left to download.

Even though watching the patcher is more interesting than watching Wimbledon, I think I am just going to leave it to get on with its own thing until it reaches 100%.

Sneaking in fixes is not a good thing, it's something cowboys do.

Proper software engineers strive to keep a unified codebase which they freeze while they test thoroughly. Not just the bits they've changed, but all of it to discover side-effects. Testing shouldn't be viewed as the last little bit you do after coding, it should be thorough and methodical and factored in as being of as much (sometimes greater) importance as the rest of the development process.

It was nearer 9Gb for me, but it took forever, remember it also processes the download, which it counts as part of the percentage.

Also the percentage figure is nearly always garbage, sometimes the same amount of Megabytes in the same download is represented by different percentage numbers.

    2x 4.xxGB for me

guildmate had the same problem with not accessing the patch.
deleted the EU from the game file name -> and patched the US version -> added the EU back and could login without any harm.
