Research Confusion

Hi all,

The crafting, research and traits have got me very confused.
How do u know what items u have already researched?
What is the procedure steps when u are at a crafting station?
Normally I would first go to the refine tab and refine everything, then I would de-construct everything,
Then I would go to the research tab but there's never anything to research!

I have managed to research a few blacksmithing item but I don't know how I did it.
Watched several YouTube vid's but still not getting it.

I have noticed on the research tab that different characters on my account have different items under the trait line.
How do u get these?

Any suggestions much appreciated.
Soooo many questions so little time.

To research something, you need to have a copy of an item with that trait in your inventory or bank.

If you deconstruct everything, there is nothing left to research.

I keep tables of what I've learned, and tick them off as I research them, I also keep a master table, so I can see who needs to learn what, and which traits none of my characters have learnt.

Personally refine mats first, then research traits, then deconstruct.
Also never deconstruct anything unless you are 100% sure that you have learnt that trait on that type of item for all your characters.

Research, deconstruct, refine for me. Tbh, the exact order doesn't really matter as long as research is before decon.

You can't deconstruct first and research after. Its the other way around. How do you want to research if you deconstruct all your gear with traits on them???

you can only research what you physically have and it destroys item, time goes by ( doubled at each trait). you have to research each trait for each piece separately. once you finish research it will be lit up in your research section. to do the research DONT BREAK DOWN all of your things. open the reasearch section at appropriate station and click one that says research available

To research a trait, you first have to find an item with the trait you want(ex, you want the training trait, you would find an item with "training" on it). its best to buy whatever trait you want from players, as drops are random. once you have the itme with the trait, go to the appropriate crafting station, activate it, find the "research tab". find the item you have it for in the tab, then find the trait in the trait list, and confirm you want to research it. the traits you already know should be highlighted, the ones you don't know should be either darkened, or say something like "unknown". the time to research the trait doubles each time for tha particular item(so if you research one trait for a bow, researching a 2nd trait for a bow will take double the time it took to research the first trait) and so on. to put a researched trait on an item, you have to find the right gem, which it tells you when trying to create something. you get these gems from deconing(maybe refining) looting, and you can even buy them from players.

Not sure a textbook definition of "Research" helps here, in fact I know for a fact it doesn't. Saying what research is in real life doesn't help you understand how to do it in a game.

I'm sure you were trying to help, but simply saying how to actually research various thing in the game would have been a better idea.
