Not forum hate, but ESO is the only MMO I've ever been on (out of 6?) that I've been called names in. Yesterday, I was verbally attacked for gathering jute because I was VR1. Then today I was attacked because I was attacked because I had logged out in Stonefells, and when I logged in again, I was right by an active dolmen that I'd missed for achievement, so I helped (with my super duper resto stave powers). Apparently, being VR1 and catching a missed dolmen made me non-heterosexual, a female dog, and a few other choice names, my fav was a 'ruiner of his game enjoyment'. I was told I was unable to handle VR level and to leave! lol Waaay too much anger in people lately. Sheesh.

Not excusing the behavior you are seeing or having experience with but I think it is because of the megaserver. Once we could pick and chose servers based on pvp, rp. pve etc and that would steer certain players with certain behaviors and personalities apart. Now though, we are crammed together and time will tell if that is good or bad for the game.

You're most likely right! Every other game I've played before I was either in a place where I'd just attack physically, or I'd flip the pvp switch and let him decide if he wanted to back his words up lol. Of course, neither of those are truly fair as he was like level 35. But, the choice was there...

I like a lot about this game, but the mega server isn't one of the things I like at all. It feels a lot like a passive-aggressive person to me in the mega-server and the weird guild set up. It feels like ESO wants grouping and in-game friendships/teamwork, but on the other hand removes the closeness of things that make that work - at least work for me. Like mega-servers versus smaller servers geared around time zones and play styles or whatnot, and the 5 guilds are simply used for shopping and selling versus really digging in and having a smaller, close guild unit. I dunno. Grumbled me today. Maybe I'm catching the angry bug!

Frustration is normal, especially in this game. Most that are left have strong feelings about the IP and have expectations about how an MMO should be made. Sadly, we are just a consumer and have little voice in the overall outcome of the finished product. Our only choices are to stick with it and see what lies ahead or leave for greener pastures.

Like you have stated, many features that were expected are not here and the game definitely has a counter productive feel to it, especially in regards to grouping and guild functionality when it comes to the PvE side of things.

I personally will continue to play and monitor the progress while my current subscription is active. Hopefully over the next month and a half things improve up to my level of expectations in which case I will renew. If not then there are other things to entertain me.

There are too many good casual players with more pleasant personalities being driven away by loot nerfs, making enemies harder, lack of features like auction house, insertion of bad features like pollution of 0 gold items in everything.

Does gold actually matter? Do you really need to be able to collect gold by running around rooms and clicking on cabinets?

How do you want us to collect gold, spamming zone chat? That is boring and tedius and simply gets you trolled for hours.

Gold does matter because of gold sinks forced on players of all levels, such as item repair, respec cost, inventory space, bank space, horse food... And of course, commerce with other players when there is any.

Why do you care how I make gold? Maybe I want provisioning to stop getting sacked because I want to use it and its getting worse with every patch? Maybe I want to feel like I am getting some carrots on the stick at the end instead of just longer sticks?

Oh foolish little poster....complaining is the way of this world.

It just so happens that people had a lot of expectations for this game, never being content for what is given. Some long for world of times past, like WoW or RIFT. Others long for a world that simply never was. Like the world that was sandbox all the way to the core. Yet others still, despite their small population, want a world that is simply theirs, where they are surrounded by riches and they do not know the concept of challenge.

Had this world not been so responsive to the demands of its populace, indeed, there just may not be complaints on this forum. No. They would have left this world and find themselves be reborn in another. Like WildStar...or maybe they would go back to Final Fantasy....or Skyrim.
That, my dear friend, is how the world works. Praise be to ESO's name.

    -X-
Ok. Joking tone aside, people love to complain.

    Because it works.

First after the elites exploited their way into hundreds of stacks of crafting mats and all research traits they rush-cry to get it fixed before anyone else can use it, keeping their ill-gotten gains.

Then they rush-cry about sorcerer, bolt escape, crowd control, item set bonuses, too many motifs.

Thus why I get so irritated by all the crying. Some of their complaints are so heavily exaggerated with the intent to influence others to believe they are real, when in fact they are just myths. All the crying ends up making unnecessary changes caused by people who don't even know how to make video games. The developers should be the only people making these decisions.

I have a strong feeling that many of the Nightblade players are heavily over exaggerating just so they can make their class stronger. I also feel like other players spent hundreds of hours playing and ran out of stuff to do, so they want to ruin everyone else's experience by trash talking the game because they finished it. It's ridiculously selfish behavior and it's not the first forum I've seen it on. It happens on every game, where before the beta is even over people are claiming the game is dead, when it's quite the opposite.

They hate any tactic which counters them. If they rely on pulls, leashes, etc. then they will hate anything like bolt escape or bows. If they rely on using 2 crushing glyphs to overcome all armor and deal 800 damage per light attack they will hate people with speed potions and nearby healers.

If someone heals their kill target they will hate heals.

Too bad the devs listen to that crowd, but to be fair this crowd are the same people who troll "negative feedback" threads to bully the OP so their posts have more merit to the devs.

Was looking at some older threads in the Main Quest forum, and I picked up on a good point: Plot isn't nearly as important in an MMO as it is in a single-player RPG, and we can see that in practice.

MMO plots are almost entirely forgettable, whereas folks remember plots and uber-villians in good RPGs. What memorable characters will we talk about in ESO five years down the road? Ten years? Folks who play MMOs generally care only about measuring epeens with each other in terms of cool gear and accomplishments - so story just isn't as important.

Moreover, MMOs are nearly always linear in nature - a check-the-box structure through which each player is carefully guided, with a carrot always dangling just out of reach. That's something else single-player RPG fans aren't necessarily used to seeing.

But when you've got long-time TES players who perhaps haven't played an MMO before, they'll see the lack of story ... and complain about it.

They'll see a lack of wide-open world that they were accustomed to in single-player TES releases ... and complain about it.

They'll see what they perceive to be a linear structure, which isn't what they're used to in single-player TES games ... and complain about it.

None of this should shock or appall you, for if you really think about it, this MMO was setup for what we see from the start - the expectations were simply too high.
