Armor and Weapons in chests

So this may have been a previous post or in another thread, and if so i apologize for making another post about it, but does anyone know what the deal is with the armor and weapons showing up in nightstands, chests etc?

They are useless, cant sell, no point in decon'ing them, and why upgrade when they have no traits? I don't see what the point of adding them to the game was.....

I think there's a person at ZOS whose job it is to make one dumb change to the game every so often. They hired this guy right about the time they were deciding how to deal with the fact that some people didn't like the starter islands.

People wanted the realism of being able to pick up items that they saw in game. ZOS didn't want to give away free useful things to people who did not put in the effort of learning to craft or killing a boss.

IMO it is a good compromise. I'm not planning on picking any of them up because your right they are worthless and would take up space but I like that we can at least pick them up it adds to in game immersion.

I don't plan on picking them up either, but now I can't avoid it, as they are now in the containers I used to get recipes and provisioning materials. Eh whatever, going to go play something else.

Uh....you can avoid it. Just hit E a couple times instead of just hitting R. Really not that complicated.

At least I can use a lockpick.

Curra - you cant actually see the items. They are inside a chest or nightstand or whatever, not lying out on a table. So there is no realism or game immerision added by this.

All I can see is that they are a pre-cursor to something else being added in the future i.e. rare armor or wpns.

Yeah sorry I haven't played the game yet since the patch update. I didn't realise they had added them to containers as well. From the patch notes it sounded like they were just being added out in the world.

    That is annoying.

Another ridiculous move by ZOS - listening to what we want, but totally screwing it up when they try to implement it. The idea of being able to pick up swords/bows/armor/etc is awesome, but 1) that stuff typically doesn't fit in a tiny little back (so you blew that aspect of immersion), and 2) that stuff does cost gold/materials to make, so it should be sellable for at least small amount (again, breaking this "immersion" ZOS is striving for).

Or, just make it function like it has in previous games, there is stuff lying around that you can pick up, or not (but without getting caught it's kind of dumb, as in there should have been the justice system and thieves guild implemented from the beginning). But this makes auto-loot super annoying.

It is worse. Another lockpick will stack with the ones you already have while these pieces of crap will take up a new slot in inventory for each item.

@Worstluck‌ If you take Auto loot off it is avoidable. You could also not hit R to pick everything up if you aren't using auto loot & just pay attention to what you're looting so you only pick up what you want.

I don't wanna be forced to manually loot everything, my playstyle is autoloot. Forcing this garbage into my game that I don't want to force me to manually loot is silly and absurd.

Saying that disabling Autoloot is the answer is really not very helpful. I already spend way too much time having to manage inventory . This is a game and it is reasonable to expect some degree of streamlining. Having to manually scan through stuff every time is a waste of time and energy and I really dont have that much time to play so adding more "clutter" to an already suboptimal inventory system is a step backwards

Yeah no offense guys, I realize that I can not auto loot and not loot all, but I don't want to. Farming for provisioning materials and recipes is already pretty tedious, even when using addons. Regardless, I don't think they were supposed to be in these containers, and will probably be fixed.

I like the change where I can, for example, see a jerkin on a mannequin and pick it up. That's cool.

However, I don't like finding the weapons/armor in the storage containers. As much as I would like that to be a bug, it doesn't appear to be. See the addendum to the patch notes:

Relax people. As usual, a nice mod maker will be along shortly with a new mod which will auto-destroy any white item in your backpack with a value of 0 (assuming that does not already exist).

As usual I find myself in awe of their ability to make such colossally idiotic design decisions while at the same time patting them on the back for allowing mod makers to come along behind them and clean up their messes.

    Talk about a symbiotic relationship...
