How about ZOS makes it possible that you can still do quest, collect mat, etc, when server is down, and sync back the data when the server is up?

Because those files are server-side for a reason. If they were client-side, then players would be able to decrypt them and add things to their inventory that they didn't have before, and when the game syncs back up, they would have something they didn't earn.

All mats would be easily farmed and could flood the market?

well, find a way to encrypt it, I don't think its impossible, some random keys or whatever that servers check when retrieving data.

Bots have been hacking this game inside out as is, I don't see why it suddenly becomes an issue for legit players.

Changing their window from 8am to 3am would allow for errors and still lots of uptime during primetime EST for NA players. It's like the people who perform maintenance for NA are working in Europe.

It bugs when people say that. I burn like a MoFo and I would NOT go sit in the SUN even if I lived on a desert island.

Instead: Go read a book, go wash your pits, go clean your house!

Those are proper statements of condescension.

Congrats. You just managed to come up with the dumbest suggestion ever.

How about this? It's an MMO that is constantly evolving and having minor tweaks / fixes applied to it. Downtime is the nature of the beast and it is always going to make somebody unhappy. There are really good reasons why they do it at the start of their business day. Every game has people upset in the forums because of downtime but the truth of the matter is you just have to get used to it or stop playing MMOs that are being actively supported.

If they made any portion of this game offline and gave us the server-side files, it would be too easy for groups to hack it and make an "offline" pirated server that wouldn't require you to log in to ZOS. Similar to how release groups hack Steam games to make them playable offline without having to login to Steam.

Not to forget people would realize that most of the game actually could be played offline and then may question why they have to hook up to a server to begin with.
"You've probably figured that out by now. Let's hope so. Or we're in real trouble... and out come the intestines. And I skip rope with them!"

Far to easy for those who know how to "hack" or alter files to add exceptional gear, gold, horses, high level characters, complete difficult achievements and otherwise.

Too much room for abuse IMO. I'd much rather ZoS be a bit smarter about the time of the day they implement the changes. They took the servers down at 8AM. should have took them down at 2 or 3 AM. Shrug.
