So are we getting reimbursed a day of gametime for this update? 4 hours is one thing, over 8 is another.

24 hours in a day, game costs 50 cents a day, it's down for 8 hours leaving you the possibility to play for the other 2/3rds of the day, you really want 16 cents reimbursed?

The money isn't the issue. 8 hours of game time isn't worth anything. 8+ hours of MY time, however, is worth a hell of a lot more.

Then quit wasting your time and find something else to do 'till it comes up!! You're time is obviously way more valuable than posting on the forums about this.

Seriously? People are threatening to quit the game because an update is taking a few more hours then they expected?

Loius CK has a bit where he talks about getting on a plane that is running a pilot project for wifi in the air. Half way through the flight, the the wifi goes down. The guy next to him starts violently complaining about what a rip off it is - a service that he didn't even know existed before he boarded the plane.

This was a scheduled maintenance/update period. Everyone knew it was coming - or at least had the information available if they wanted to find it. You could have made other plans for today - you know, like getting out of your mom's basement and going for a walk or something.

You expectations are seriously too high if this is what is causing you to want to quit.

Then be sure to tell your boss that you want a raise. ZO, however, has to price their game time according to how much it is worth.

I bill out over $70 an hour for my services, $120/hr after 8 hours and $140/hr after 12, however when I sit at my computer I bill no one, so therefor my time spent on my entertainment is worth just the price of the entertainment, in ESO's case that amounts to 50 cents a day, or 2 cents an hour.

You can leave your launcher open and it will update automatically, though you'd have to leave your computer awake.

Thanks xaraan. I didn't know that it would start updating on it's own like that. It wouldn't be the first time that I left the computer on to update something while I was at work, and probably won't be the last.

I get a day off work and not only is eso down for 8+ hours now, there's a water main break in our area so it's 6+ hours without water so far. I think I deserve some type of pity award.

Most definitely, however it isn't something they are required to do and demanding a refund will, at best, get you a laugh. They were nice enough last time something like this happened, we can hold out hope for it but I won't be overly hurt if they don't.

Ugh, that sucks. Last time that happened in my neighbourhood we went 4 days without running water. They brought it some remote water unit and you had to go up to it to get water, needless to say though, showers weren't happening. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Well, if the power goes out (again, its storming bad at the moment) and my kids DARE tell me they are bored, I swear to god I will make them dust the living room and reorganize their room like ANY DECENT PARENT would. And you can bet your butt, when my kids are playing an MMO in the future, they will not being whining about how ZoS "owes" them their game time and is wasting their mom's 16c with 8+ hrs of downtime... They will simply find something else to do.

    Can I get a witness?

Correct, when it comes to subscription games, time IS money. Unless hidden away in some EULA they claim that maintenance and such issues are non refundable time lol - it is ESO after all ;-)

ZOS NEVER reimburses money, Ive lost 10 days of gametime due to wrongful bans from overzealous moderators. While ZOS says they are in the wrong, they refuse to reimburse any gametime.

Blizzard's standard maintenance is 8 hours. Your EULA documents the way your sub works. Your sub allows you access to the game when it is not being fixed, patched or maintained in some way.

Most of these are probably single players of Skyrim, Oblivion etc who moved over to an MMO with the Elder Scrolls name and expect the game to be available 24/7 while all patches, bugs and otherwise (which in a SP game they would have to patch in themselves) are magically fixed "while they are playing or sleeping".

I do agree that if you say something is going to take 4 hours it should be done in 4 hours, it's how things are supposed to work. Do people have a right to be upset? Definitely.

But I'd like to point out to the "adults" on what they consider high ground. You are here trolling the forums to complain and pretend to be superior to people who are expressing their views. You talk to them like your better and they are petty but here you are telling them they're petty because they believe they've received poor service. And you're just here to call them "small and stupid"... what does that make you? Food for thought.

FYI, if you have kids and you're hear telling people off and using your kids as an example of how much better you are, well maybe you should spend more time with those kids and less time playing MMOs and trolling that MMOs forums. Your rage is just a different rage.

I was one of the unfortunates hit with the memleak bug last content update. If it's taking them an extra 6 hours this time (assuming it's to ensure QC) then it takes an extra 6 hours. It is what it is. They're keeping us updated on ETA's. They've given us the edited patch notes. Historically they've reimbursed sub-holders for extensive down times.

Looks like they've done what they can from a communication POV. Not much we can do either.

An hour and 15 min to go. Might watch some Louie (someone mentioned him earlier).

    LoL Couldn't resist.

Planned down time for a major update running over schedule IS NOT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

As far as my kids and spending "more time with them" lol. I'm not one of those modern guilty working parents who refuses to let kids be kids. When I grew up in the 80s my mommy and daddy didn't have constant play dates with me, they told me to get my butt outside and be a kid. That's not to say we don't spend time as a family, but at the moment my kids are doing exactly what they should be. They are all in the living room nicely playing Batman Legos together. All three. Why? Because my wife and I are good parents and that's why they are good kids...
