✭I'm not a fan of achievements either, but you're really taking it way too seriously. It's not worth all these emotions. If it bothers you so much, go to your profile, click Edit Profile and turn off notifications.
Problem for me is that they changed it so I have to be notified about posts posted in the same topic as I have written in, in order to be notified if someone @/quote me. Or something that I have missed?

Never figured that out.
Stars are based in the amount of points you've accumulated via the number of Agrees, Insightfuls, and Awesomes you've been given. LOLs don't give points. Badges earned from completing various milestones also give you points.
Soul Shriven is the one star forum newbie rank (or I guess if you just read but never post).
