Can I buy a copy for my wife already?

I have not played the game much since release because I wanted to play with my wife. After watching Angry Joe's review, I was disappointed that I'd have a hard time playing the game with her since there are a lot of flaws related to group questing, etc.

Has it been fixed already? Sorry if the question seems too generic.

I have one character that I level solely with another player and I have met twice as many bugs when grouped, but the total number of bugs I have found is only 3, 2 in the group and one elsewhere.
So I would not be worried if I were you.
Angry Joe is ignorant of the game as is (and actually as it was then. He was just angry because it was not the game he wanted).

Angry Joe did not play the game. He basically did Beta-esque things in his review that I saw and quite honestly, while I think he's amusing --- I do not usually agree with his reviews other than a few. I felt he went in blindly and already had his tone set out before playing the game (controversy sells sometimes more than the same generic agreeing reviews).

I have had no problems grouping. My main I did all the quests solo, by choice. Now I am working on an alt with friends working on theirs and as long as you go through the quests together at the same pace you shouldn't have issues.

Also, it may be a good idea to create one character for solo/random play (for each of you), so that you keep your group characters at the same place in the game and your others to roam about freely with.

There is nothing wrong with group questing if you are keeping your characters sync'd up anyway. I have 3 characters that play with friends and we play those characters together just fine.

You just can't mix and match your characters that have completed quests with those that haven't.

Get the game for your wife and start a character to play when she plays. Keep a separate character for you when you are solo.

Most video game critics/reviewers have always and still make the error of comparing mmo releases to single player game releases. If a critic made an annual review of an mmo, instead of a one shot deal at launch, they would be doing the genre a favour, instead of preventing games from taking off. TSW crashed and burned for that very reason. reviewers scared away buyers, and employees were met with two rounds of layoffs until the game was running on a skeleton crew.

Angry Joe did give an accurate review of ESO at launch for the most part, but most of the bugs he shows in his video I have yet to encounter post launch (but I did run into many of them during beta) which makes me wonder when in the games development he did a lot of playing.

My advice, unless your wife is new to mmo's and might quit at the drop of a hat, you're probably safe to just get her the game, and make sure not to get out of sync with quest progression.

My husband and I play together and the only place we ever had problems was in group dungeons or when initially logging in we were not able to see each other, but a simple log out and back in for one of us would fix that. Now if the character you have played has already completed some instanced quests, then you and your wife may not be able to do that together. The character I play with my husband I only play when he is home with me, same with his character. So, we never have instancing issues with quests, since we do them together. We also each have a character we level alone, when the other is not home. If you and your wife stay in the same point in the game, then there will be no problems with playing together.

Me and my wife have been playing together since early access. We have been grouped up the whole time and have done every aspect of the game together, minus the single player instances. No matter what other people may say, we have had ZERO issues with being grouped up all the way to Vet8 where we are now. If she really enjoys the game there is no reason why you two won't have a blast playing together.

Angry Joe is probably one of the worst reviewers I have ever seen.

If you do play with your wife your best bet it so make a character you only play when she is one. It works a lot better if you just do everything together. Once someone get ahead of the other person it gets a lot harder. There are a few things that have to be done solo.

The main story and guilds are still solo play. This may change and if you want to play everything together then you might want to hold on for a while. But bare in mind that these quests count for less than 10% of the game. All be it a rather important 10%

Other than that then, yes, it's better. If you communicate and make the same decisions you should have no phasing problems. It stands to reason that if you choose to kill a boss and your wife chooses to talk the boss down then you will be put in separate phases, so communication is key.

I was going to buy a copy for the Mrs, but in reality I don't think she would enjoy it past level 50 so right now there is no point.

Do not waste your money. We paid for multiple copy's so we could play/group as a family and with our friends. It was a waste of time and cash. You two will not be able to group and will never get a guild with useful options for just the 2 of you.

I would not listen to "Angry Joe" for advise on this game.

He did not play it nearly long enough (did he even reach level 15???) to know anything about anything.

The hubby and I play together every day, and we're far stronger as a pair. We don't do the big group content, but it sounds like you may be more interested in just the two of you together. If that's the case, I say go for it. Be warned that there are still some places that are forced solo, but for general gameplay, I think you guys will be pleased.

The OP is asking about whether the phasing mechanic still makes group play for completing quests buggy and tiresome. To my knowledge, nothing has been done by ESO yet to alleviate this, but ESO has acknowledged the problem and stated a desire to fix it.

On a related note for the OP, you should be warned that actual group instances - dungeons - in the game provide essentially no XP. If you or you wife typically level through instanced group content, this may not be the game for you. ESO has thus far not even acknowledged the fact that players are FORCED to get the lion's share (80%+ for the average the gamer in my estimate) of their character progression from completing content tuned for a single player, mainly quests.

As a result, finding groups is hard, and sitting in queue waiting for one long.

Players have two viable options of character progression between levels 1-50: questing or grinding mobs. Dungeons and PvP are XP poor, especially the former.

If this fits your playstyle then I would recommend trying ESO.

I play with a friend and we group without problems, if you play together (as in make choices together) you'll never find yourself 'out of sync' and even when that happens it's limited to a small area of the world

I play with several friends and only have phasing problems on initial log in. Once we get on the same phase we have zero issues with being in a group. The guild quests and main story will be the only places where you wont be able to group by my experience. I think they should change that and allow group players to be in the same phase of all quests/instances as long as you have selected the same answer. Just my 2 cents
